We price 16 Audi models today, spread across SUV, hatchback, estate, saloon and Sportback body styles, with petrol, diesel, self-charging hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions between them. Sizes run from the 4.03 m A1 to the 5.06 m Q7.

Choosing is mostly a matter of size first, then powertrain. Work out how much car you need to park and load, then decide whether your weekly mileage suits petrol, diesel, a plug-in hybrid or a full EV.

About Audi

Audi is the premium arm of the Volkswagen Group, known for restrained styling, digital instruments and quattro four-wheel drive. Every model we price carries the same 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty, so cover doesn't change with the car you pick.

Reviewers tend to agree on the pattern: Audi interiors feel solid and the motorway manners are excellent, while the move to bigger screens and fewer physical buttons divides opinion. Ride comfort varies more than the badge suggests, which is why wheel size and trim matter.

The line-up is broad rather than niche. Four models are electric-only - the Q4, Q6, RS e-TRON GT and e-TRON GT - while eight offer a plug-in hybrid, and diesel is still available across eight models for higher-mileage drivers.

SUV

The Audi Q3 is the compact family SUV of the range, at 4.53 m long with five seats and a 375-488 litre boot depending on version. Petrol, diesel, self-charging hybrid and plug-in hybrid are all offered, across six trims, with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Deals start from £425.39 a month.

The Audi Q4 is an electric-only family SUV, 4.60 m long, with a 515-527 litre boot and five seats. It suits drivers with home or workplace charging who want EV running costs without a big car. Five trims, 5-star Euro NCAP, and braked towing up to 1,200 kg. Deals start from £476.33 a month.

Step up to the Audi Q6 and you get a larger electric SUV at 4.77 m, with a 499-526 litre boot, five seats and four trims. It tows a braked 2,400 kg, which is unusual reach for an EV, and it holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Deals start from £640.52 a month.

The Audi Q7 is the seven-seater. At 5.06 m it's the longest Audi we price, with a 581 litre boot behind the third row seats folded, diesel power, four trims and braked towing up to 3,500 kg. Deals start from £942.79 a month.

The Audi Q8 takes the large-SUV brief in a more style-led direction: five seats, 4.99 m, a 439-680 litre boot and five trims. Petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions are available, and it tows a braked 3,500 kg. Deals start from £845.42 a month.

The Audi RS Q8 is the performance flagship of the SUV line-up, petrol only, 5.02 m long, with five seats and a 680 litre boot across four trims. It still tows a braked 3,500 kg, so the speed doesn't cost you the towbar. Deals start from £1,738.73 a month.

Hatchback

The Audi A1 is the small one - 4.03 m long, petrol only, with five seats, a 335 litre boot and two trims. If your driving is mostly town, multi-storeys and short hops, this is the easiest Audi to live with. It holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Deals start from £274.68 a month.

The Audi A3 is the classic premium family hatch, about 4.34 m long, with five seats, a 280-425 litre boot and seven trims. Petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid are all offered, it tows a braked 1,600 kg and it holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Deals start from £319.87 a month.

The Audi RS3 is the hot version: petrol, five seats, about 4.38 m long, with a 282-321 litre boot and three trims. Buy it for the five-cylinder character rather than the luggage space. Deals start from £747.36 a month.

Estate

The Audi A5 covers the mid-size estate brief at 4.84 m, with five seats, a 331-476 litre boot and five trims. Petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions are available, towing runs to a braked 1,900 kg, and it holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Deals start from £431.75 a month.

The Audi A6 is the executive choice, about 4.93 m long, with five seats, a 354-503 litre boot and seven trims. It's the only model here offered as petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and electric, tows a braked 2,100 kg and holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Deals start from £541.58 a month.

The Audi A6 Allroad is the raised, rough-track-friendly estate: 5.02 m long, five seats, a 404-466 litre boot, two trims and diesel or plug-in hybrid power. Braked towing of 2,500 kg makes it a sensible trailer car. Deals start from £805.37 a month.

Saloon

The Audi RS e-TRON GT is the electric performance saloon, 5.00 m long, with five seats, a 350 litre boot and three trims. It's a grand tourer first, built for covering distance quickly and quietly. Deals start from £1,869.04 a month.

The Audi RS5 pairs performance with plug-in hybrid power, at 4.90 m with five seats, a 331-361 litre boot and four trims. It tows a braked 1,900 kg, which few fast saloons bother with. Deals start from £1,272.18 a month.

The Audi e-TRON GT is the same 5.00 m electric grand tourer in slightly calmer form, with five seats, a 350-405 litre boot and two trims. Deals start from £1,232.32 a month.

Sportback

The Audi Q5 is the mid-size all-rounder, 4.72 m long, with five seats, a 433-520 litre boot and eight trims - the widest choice of specification here. Petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions are offered, towing reaches a braked 2,400 kg, and it holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Deals start from £525.60 a month.

Electric and hybrid Audi models

Four Audi models are electric only: the Q4, the Q6, the e-TRON GT and the RS e-TRON GT. The A6 is also offered in electric form, and eight models can be had as a plug-in hybrid.

If you can charge at home or at work, the Q4 and Q6 cover most family SUV duties, while the e-TRON GT and RS e-TRON GT are the long-distance saloons. Where charging is occasional, a plug-in hybrid Q3, Q5, Q8, A3, A5, A6, A6 Allroad or RS5 lets you do short trips on electricity and longer ones on the engine.

Which Audi should you choose?

Start with what the car has to do. Size, seats and towing narrow the list quickly, and the powertrain choice usually follows from your annual mileage and whether you can plug in at home.

Smallest and easiest to park: the A1, at 4.03 m. If you want a bit more space in the same shape, the A3 adds a bigger boot and a choice of petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid.

For a family, the Q3, Q5 and A6 all seat five and hold 5-star Euro NCAP ratings, with boots of 375-488, 433-520 and 354-503 litres respectively. Need seven seats? Only the Q7 offers them.

For towing, the Q7, Q8 and RS Q8 each manage a braked 3,500 kg, the most in the range. The A6 Allroad's 2,500 kg suits a smaller trailer or a horsebox-free life with a caravan.
