About the Audi Q4

The Q4 is Audi's compact electric SUV. This is the current Q4, on sale in this form since 2026.

Reviewers return to the same words: comfortable, quiet, easy to live with. The ride smooths out poor surfaces, motorway refinement is a strong point, and the cabin feels a cut above its mechanical relatives, even if some lower plastics give the game away.

Practically, you get five seats, a 2.77 m wheelbase that frees up genuine rear legroom, and a boot of 515 litres in the SUV or 527 litres in the Sportback. Audi's warranty runs to 3 years or 60,000 miles, with the battery covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles.

Q4 body styles

Two shapes, same underpinnings. The SUV is the taller, more upright family car; the Sportback swaps a little rear headroom for a sloping roofline. Both are five-door, five-seat cars measuring 4.60 m long, and both share the same powertrains and trims.

Sportback

The Q4 Sportback stands 1.61 m tall with a tapered roof and, oddly, the bigger seats-up boot at 527 litres. You give up a little rear headroom and over-the-shoulder visibility for the sleeker profile.

SUV

The Q4 SUV is 1.63 m tall with a squarer tail, so head room in the back and the shape of the load bay both benefit. Boot space is 515 litres seats up, rising to 1,487 litres with the rear bench folded.

Why lease an Audi Q4?

Because the standard kit list is deep and the safety case is strong. Every Q4, whatever the trim, comes with adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, three-zone climate control and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Driver assistance is thorough too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera are all fitted as standard. Euro NCAP awarded the Q4 five stars, with 91% for adult occupant protection and 87% for child occupant protection.

For families, the numbers that matter are five seats, a boot of 515 to 527 litres depending on version, and braked towing of up to 1,200 kg on the right version.

Which Q4 powertrain is right for me?

There's one answer here: the Q4 is electric only, so every version plugs in and none of them uses petrol or diesel.

Electric

Battery sizes run from 63 to 82 kWh, power from 201 to 335 bhp, and WLTP range up to 351 miles on the best version. All are automatic, with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available. Rapid charging covers 10-80% in 27 minutes at 185 kW on the best version; on that same version, a 11 kW home charge takes 6.5 hours to fill.

Which Q4 trim should I choose?

Five trims, and the honest answer is that most drivers are well served lower down the range, because the safety and comfort kit is standard across the board. What changes is wheels, trim materials and the amount of parking and display technology.

Sport

Sport gets 19-inch alloys in the 5 V spoke aero style with a black gloss turned finish, LED headlights, roof rails, cloth upholstery, leatherette door armrests, heated front seats and the 12.8-inch curved touchscreen with navigation. Smaller wheels usually mean the softest ride. The Sport is currently available from £506.93 a month inc VAT.

S Line

S Line moves to 20-inch alloys in the 5 V spoke style with a graphite grey gloss turned finish, adds leather upholstery, privacy glass, sports suspension and a three-spoke flat-top-and-bottom leather steering wheel. A firmer, more purposeful setup. The S Line is currently available from £523.04 a month inc VAT. Against the Sport, that is currently £16.12/mo more expensive (inc VAT).

Black Edition

Black Edition is mostly about the look: 20-inch 5 arm aero Audi Sport alloys in a black metallic finish, with part leather upholstery. It also brings heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory. The Black Edition is currently available from £577.76 a month inc VAT. Against the S Line, that is currently £54.72/mo more expensive (inc VAT).

Launch Edition

Launch Edition is the parking and visibility spec, adding a surround view camera system, park assist plus, matrix LED headlights, a head-up display and the 12-inch MMI front passenger touch display. Its entry version steps up to 282 bhp. The Launch Edition is currently available from £571.00 a month inc VAT. Against the Black Edition, that is currently £6.77/mo cheaper (inc VAT). Best value

Vorsprung

Vorsprung tops the range with 21-inch alloys in the 6 twin spoke style, an opening panoramic sunroof, park assist pro with remote function and trained parking, adaptive cruise assist with emergency assist, and lane-keep assist. A heat pump and a retractable towbar are available as options. The Vorsprung is currently available from £637.86 a month inc VAT. Against the Launch Edition, that is currently £66.86/mo more expensive (inc VAT).

On top of the trims, the Tech Pack adds a head-up display where it isn't already fitted. Worth asking about before you order, since packs can't be added later.

Yes, within limits. Braked towing is 1,000 to 1,200 kg depending on version, with 750 kg unbraked. A retractable towbar is a factory option on Sport, S Line, Black Edition and Vorsprung, and it has to be ordered with the car, so tell us before the order goes in.

Audi covers the car for 3 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. The high-voltage battery has its own separate cover of 8 years or 100,000 miles, guaranteeing at least 70% of its original capacity over that period.
