JAECOO builds SUVs and nothing else. It is the more rugged, adventure-flavoured half of Chery's export brand pairing, and it arrived in Britain with an unsubtle pitch: upmarket looks, heavy standard equipment and a 7-year / 100,000-mile warranty on every car.
The current JAECOO line-up we lease runs to three SUVs, spanning 4.38 m to 4.82 m, with petrol, self-charging hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions between them. All three share that same 7-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty.
Choosing comes down to size and power source. The JAECOO 5 is the compact one at 4.38 m, with five seats, a 480-litre boot and a choice of petrol or electric - the place to start if parking and running costs matter more to you than seat count.

JAECOO is Chery's SUV-focused, upmarket export brand, sold in the UK alongside its sister marque OMODA. Reviewers consistently praise the equipment levels, the visual presence and the length of the warranty; ride and steering are where critics are less generous.
The warranty is the headline. Every model we price carries 7 years or 100,000 miles of manufacturer cover, backed by a service interval of 12 months or 10,000 miles - the sort of long-cover, low-fuss package that helped the Korean brands win over sceptical British buyers two decades ago.
Design-wise, JAECOO leans on squared-off, upright bodywork and big vertical grilles, which is why comparisons with British luxury 4x4s come up in almost every review. The range stretches from 4.38 m to 4.82 m, and one of the three, the JAECOO 5, can be had as a fully electric SUV.
Three JAECOO models are priced with us today, and all three are SUVs. They differ in length, seat count and powertrain: a compact petrol or electric option, a mid-size car with three powertrain flavours, and a large plug-in hybrid with a third row.
The JAECOO 5 is the compact choice - 4.38 m long, five seats, a 480-litre boot and two trims, offered as petrol or fully electric. It suits drivers who want the high seating position and the 7-year / 100,000-mile warranty without a big car on the driveway. Deals start from £261.50 a month.
The JAECOO 7 is the family workhorse of the range: 4.50 m, five seats, a boot of 500 to 580 litres depending on version, and four trims. Petrol, self-charging hybrid and plug-in hybrid are all available, it holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, and it tows up to 1,500 kg braked. Deals start from £259.09 a month.
The JAECOO 8 is the big one: 4.82 m, plug-in hybrid only, six or seven seats across two trims, and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. It is the range's towing champion at up to 1,600 kg braked, though with every seat in use the boot is 200 litres. Deals start from £414.74 a month.
If you are moving away from petrol, JAECOO gives you three routes: a fully electric compact SUV, a mid-size car offered as either a self-charging hybrid or a plug-in hybrid, and a large plug-in hybrid seven-seater. Two of the three models we price offer a plug-in hybrid.
The JAECOO 5 is the electric one, with five seats, a 480-litre boot and a 4.38 m footprint that makes sense for town driving. The JAECOO 7 covers both hybrid bases - self-charging if you cannot plug in, plug-in hybrid if you can - and the JAECOO 8 is plug-in hybrid only.

Leasing suits a newer brand well. You get a brand-new car covered by JAECOO's 7-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty for the whole of a normal lease term, and you hand it back at the end rather than carrying the resale risk yourself.
Servicing is every 12 months or 10,000 miles on every model we price, so the maintenance rhythm is predictable and easy to budget for. Your rentals also include road tax for the duration of the agreement, and a maintenance package can be added if you would rather fix the cost of servicing and tyres too.
The JAECOO 8 is a good example of why leasing works here: a 4.82 m plug-in hybrid with six or seven seats is a lot of car to buy outright, but as a monthly rental it is simply a number you can compare against anything else. Work backwards from what you need the car to do. Size, seat count, whether you tow and whether you can charge at home will narrow three SUVs down to one fairly quickly - the powertrain choice usually follows from that, not the other way round.
