Changan is one of China's oldest and largest car makers, and it has arrived in the UK with a deliberately simple approach: electric SUVs, one heavily equipped specification each, and a long warranty behind them. Reviewers consistently note the interior quality and the sheer volume of standard kit.
The current Changan line-up we price is two models, both SUVs and both fully electric: the Deepal S05 at 4.60 m long and the Deepal S07 at 4.75 m. Same badge, same warranty, different footprints.
Choosing is mostly about size and what you pull behind you. If you want the shorter car and the higher braked towing figure, it's the S05; if you want the longer one, it's the S07.

Changan is a long-established Chinese manufacturer that sells cars in huge numbers at home and has only recently turned its attention to Britain. Its UK proposition is narrow and electric: two SUVs, both battery-powered, both covered by a 7-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty.
What reviewers tend to single out is the cabin. Material quality, the size of the screens and the amount of equipment included as standard get consistent praise, and the brand's European design input and UK engineering presence come up repeatedly in road tests.
Ride and handling draw more mixed comment, and the two cars are judged differently on that score - worth a test drive if it matters to you. On the practical side, the range spans 4.60 m to 4.75 m in length, so both sit squarely in family SUV territory, and every model we price is serviced every 12-24 months or 12,000-24,000 miles.

The Changan Deepal S07 stretches to 4.75 m and seats five, with a 445-litre boot and braked towing up to 1,500 kg. It suits drivers who want the larger, more rakish of the pair and the extra cabin space that length brings. Again, one trim. Deals start from £377.89 a month.
Every Changan we price is fully electric. There's no petrol, diesel or hybrid option in the line-up at all, so the decision isn't which powertrain - it's which of the two electric SUVs fits your driveway and your load.

The smallest and easiest to park is the Deepal S05 at 4.60 m. In a tight urban street or a narrow garage, those 15 centimetres over the S07 are the ones you notice.
For towing, the Deepal S05 again - it's rated to pull a braked 1,600 kg, the highest figure in the range. The Deepal S07 is rated at up to 1,500 kg, which still covers a good many small caravans and trailers.
For family duty, take your pick on space. The S05 quotes a 492-litre boot in a 4.60 m body; the S07 quotes 445 litres in a 4.75 m body, so the extra length goes into the cabin rather than the load bay.
