The Audi Q7 is an excellent seven seat SUV that offers comfort and space in a modern and striking interior. There's also lots of equipment and safety technology to make this a vehicle worth considering.
With two engines available, drivers can opt for a 3.0 litre turbo diesel unit which delivers 215 bhp and has economy of 50 mpg and emissions of 148g/km. Or there's a more powerful version of the engine which delivers 268 bhp and will return around 48 mpg while having missions of 153g/km. A plug-in hybrid version is also in the pipeline which should deliver fuel economy of 166mpg and emissions of 50g/km.
The engines have a lot of torque, the more powerful diesel unit will sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.5 seconds (the smaller engine takes 7.3 seconds) and when fully loaded it is still a strong and excellent performer.
As seven seater SUVs go, the new Q7 is much lighter and more frugal than the vehicle it replaced and there's also a lot more space on board for passengers. In addition, Audi has also added lots of safety technology which helps to underline its appeal as a family car. However, it must be said that the cabin is a beautiful creation and the nice place to be on long journeys with a digital instrument cluster helping to highlight its technology.
Handling is enjoyable and the car delivers a smooth ride, mainly thanks to the eight speed automatic gearbox which is refined and when accelerating hard is a strong and able performer. There's a lot of equipment on-board the Q7 including cruise control, rear parking sensors, automatic braking function and adjustable speed limiter. Other models come with LED lights and there's a long list of optional extras including parking assistance and active lane-keeping assist.
Essentially, the Audi Q7 is a luxurious SUV with impressive performance and great handling abilities to make it a hugely enjoyable car to drive, particularly on long journeys at high speed.
