Formed in 1926, Mercedes Benz is a German luxury automotive vehicle brand recognised worldwide. They have a wide range of cars, from small city cars to top-end luxury presidential vehicles.

Looking at the range that Mercedes offers can look quite daunting if you are new to the brand, actually there split into several different classes, the class being the keyword; there are the small city cars which are classed as A class, which moves to the B Class, which are small family cars, C class Saloons and Estates, E Class High-end saloons, estates, coupe’s and convertible’s, and the top of the range S class limousine. Each of the saloons, estates or hatchbacks has various levels of trim and power units.


A&M (Aufrecht and Melcher) are the initials of the founders of the company, and the G is the town where one of the founders was born (Großaspach). AMG is the high-performance subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz; typically, AMG models have more aggressive looks, better performance, better handling, and stability.

As a general guide to trim levels, Mercedes starts with SE or Sport and then on to AMG Line; AMG Line Executive is the next trim level, followed by AMG Line Premium and Premium plus.

A Class

Mercedes A Class is a 5dr hatchback or 4-door saloon launched in its current form in 2012 with a reboot in 2018; it is the 4th generation of this very sleek aspirational motor car. Available in a whole host of quality trim levels, petrol, or diesel, automatic only, there is also the self-charging hybrid version designated with an e.

B Class

Mercedes B class is a family MPV car, sportier and more dynamic than ever in its present guise. Comfortable and spacious, it has excellent connectivity for today's families on the go. Many trim levels are available, plus premium petrol or diesel engines with different power outputs.

C Class

The iconic Mercedes-Benz C Class compact executive saloon was introduced to the world in 1993. The 5th generation was unveiled in 2021, and for the first time, the popular 4-cylinder engines were coupled to a 15-kilowatt electric motor creating a mild hybrid. The new stylish and comfortable interior gives sweeping lines and plenty of intelligent technology.

There are many trim levels and engine options, including petrol, diesel, and self-charging hybrid. The C300e is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). With a fully charged battery, it is estimated that you can achieve 68 miles of 100% electric. The trim levels available on this car are AMG line, AMG line premium and AMG line premium plus.

E Class

Mercedes E Class is a top-end executive saloon; the recent facelift gives the car a dynamic and sleek appearance; originally produced in 1953, the designation of the car was Einspritzmotor (German for Fuel injection); by 1993, most Mercedes-Benz engines were fuel injection, so the E-Class name was adopted. This fifth generation is also available as an E-class estate and an E-class coupe.

The AMG E-Class 63 S 4 Matic saloon is not just a pretty-looking car; it has 612 bhp and a 0-64mph in 3.4 seconds. However, most customers will choose one of the traditional diesel and petrol engines with a mild hybrid battery, with its acclaimed performance and economy, however, there is now a Plug-in Hybrid option (PHEV) available.

The E 300e & E300de have a petrol or diesel engine that works with the battery to produce a local emissions-free driving range of 34 miles on a full charge, using a 3-phase wall box, 10%-100% charge can be achieved in 90 minutes. Having a battery also gives you additional benefits like pre-entry climate control, adding to the E-Class sense of executive luxury.

The very unique Mercedes CLA range is available as a Shooting Brake or Coupe; the sloping body style of the CLA gives this range a very sporty look. The design of the CLA gives you a wider tailgate/boot opening at the rear, which gives a large 505-litre boot, increasing to 1300 litres with the seats down. The cars are available in various trim levels, AMG line AMG line premium name AMG premium plus.

The CLA 250e Plug-in Hybrid will give you 43 miles in all-electric mode and will fully charge in 2-3 hours; from a company car point of view, you can save on city congestion charges and lower benefit in kind (Bik) tax rates.

Sports Utility Vehicle

Mercedes SUVs start with the GLA, based on the A class chassis, but is a genuine compact SUV; trim levels start with the sport and sports executive and move on to the AMG series and a series of exclusive model ranges. The GLA is a high-volume car for Mercedes and is exceedingly popular with leasing customers.

Mercedes GLB is a luxurious and practical compact seven-seat SUV. It is beautifully designed and has excellent driveability, and it comes in AMG line, premium and premium plus.

The Mercedes GLC is a luxury SUV and is also available as a coupe. The GLC in both styles is a pleasure to drive with excellent cornering and a contemporary dashboard; it comes with electric seats as standard, as is 4-wheel drive; it comes in three AMG trim levels.

Mercedes GLE SUV is a full-on All-wheel drive SUV with excellent levels of elegance, with a sporty character it is tough enough for off-road challenges. It comes as a five- or seven-seater. For those who want to explore the highways rather than off-road, there is a GLE-Coupe.

Electric EQ

Mercedes, like a lot of other manufacturers that operate in the UK, are committed to emission-free driving by 2030, the range of battery electric vehicles (BEV)produced and continuing to be developed carries the EQ badge.

BEV or EV electric vehicles benefit from a quieter, more relaxing driving experience, but that does not mean reduced performance, EV’s produce maximum torque from a standing start, so you enjoy instant acceleration.


The EQA is an electric version of the GLA crossover. It has one electric motor, the EQ250 140 kW (190HP) will travel 328 miles on a full charge, and the 292bhp EQ350 can do 0 to 62 mph in 6 seconds.


The EQB is based on the larger crossover all-wheel drive GLB with up to seven seats and generous load space. The EQB can take a 10% to 80% charge using a rapid public charger in 32 minutes and a range of 252miles on a full charge.


EQC launched in 2019 and is a compact SUV with two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear, with 4x4 drive, it produces a very impressive 300kw and 408bhp to complement the performance; it has 266 miles of range on a full charge. EQC is a new design from Mercedes; it has a black panelled radiator grille and an eye-catching LED wrap-around band, giving it a modern and sleek look that Mercedes will carry forward into future models.
