The Audi Q6 is a five-seat electric SUV that sits in the middle of Audi's range, above the smaller Q models and below the largest ones. It measures 4.77 m long, comes as an upright SUV or a lower-roofed Sportback, and it's electric only.

It's aimed at drivers who want a premium family car with real motorway legs. Road testers consistently praise how quiet and settled it is at speed, and how much room there is inside; they're less kind about some of the cabin plastics and about judging the car's corners in town.

The choice here is manageable. Two body shapes, one electric powertrain family with an 83-100 kWh battery, and four trims: Sport, S Line, Black Edition and Vorsprung.

About the Audi Q6

The Q6 is Audi's mid-size electric SUV, on sale in this form since 2024. It carries five people, swallows 499-526 litres of luggage with the rear seats up depending on the version, and comes with a three-year, 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty.

Reviewers describe it as a calm, capable long-distance car rather than an entertaining one: fast enough in every form, very quiet at motorway speeds, and easy to just get in and drive. The criticism is consistent too, centring on interior materials that don't quite match Audi's older reputation, and on visibility in tight car parks.

Range stretches to 406 miles on the WLTP test for the best version, which is a big part of why it appeals to high-mileage drivers, and it scored five stars at Euro NCAP.

Q6 body styles

Two shapes, same 4.77 m length and 2.90 m wheelbase. The SUV is the upright one with the biggest boot; the Sportback has a lower, sloping roofline and a slightly smaller load bay. Mechanically and in terms of trims, they mirror each other.

SUV

The upright body gives 514-526 litres of boot space with the rear seats up, rising to 1,517-1,529 litres folded. It's the version to pick if the car is mainly a family workhorse. See the Audi Q6 SUV.

Sportback

Why lease an Audi Q6?

Because the standard specification is unusually complete, which matters on a lease: you're choosing a car for two to four years, so kit you can't add later is worth more than kit you can. Every Q6 gets a generous list as standard.

That includes adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, automatic parking assist, rear cross-traffic alert, active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam. Inside, there's three-zone climate control, built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, heated front sports seats with electric adjustment and memory, ambient lighting and a heat pump, which helps preserve range in cold weather.

Practical points: 5 doors, 5 seats, a 12.1 m turning circle, braked towing from 2,000 kg up to 2,400 kg depending on version, and a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel. Euro NCAP awarded five stars, with 91% for adult occupant protection and 92% for child occupants.

Which Q6 powertrain is right for me?

There's one answer: the Q6 is electric only, so every version plugs in and none of them uses petrol or diesel. What varies is battery size, power and whether drive goes to the rear wheels or all four.

Electric

Batteries run from 83.0 to 100.0 kWh (75.8-94.9 kWh usable), power from 248 to 483 bhp, and WLTP range from 295 up to 406 miles. All versions are automatic, with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available. Rapid charging peaks at 225-270 kW, and the quickest version covers 10-80% in 21 minutes.

Which Q6 trim should I choose?

Four trims, and the jump between them is mostly about wheels, trim finishes and comfort features rather than how the car drives. A Tech Pack is available as an add-on to a trim. Every trim starts with the full safety and infotainment list described above.

Sport

Sport starts at 248 bhp with rear-wheel drive, on 19-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloys, with Audi connect navigation and infotainment, Softwrap twin leather with contrast stitching, heated front seats, camera traffic sign recognition and Park assist plus. An opening panoramic roof and a retractable towbar are options. The Sport is currently available from £651.55 a month.

S Line

S Line adds perforated leather steering wheel grips with shift paddles, and privacy glass, on 20-inch "5 Arm Structure" alloys. Air suspension joins the options list here, alongside the panoramic roof and towbar. The S Line is currently available from £674.51 a month. Against the Sport, that is currently £22.96/mo more expensive.

Black Edition

Black Edition is mainly a darker, sharper look rather than a big change in kit, though it does bring Dinamica microfibre and leather upholstery with diamond stitching, massaging front seats and 21-inch "5 Arm" alloys. The Black Edition is currently available from £678.56 a month. Against the S Line, that is currently £4.06/mo more expensive.

Vorsprung

Vorsprung is the fully loaded one: opening panoramic sunroof, top view camera, adaptive cruise assist plus, a 10.9-inch MMI front passenger touch display, head-up display, matrix LED headlights, heated rear seats and heated steering wheel, sports suspension and 21-inch "5 Y Spoke" wheels. It starts at 302 bhp. The Vorsprung is currently available from £640.09 a month. Against the Black Edition, that is currently £38.47/mo cheaper. Best value
