Lotus made its name on lightness, steering feel and chassis engineering rather than sheer size, and reviewers still hold the brand to that standard. The current Lotus line-up we lease runs to three models across three body styles: an SUV, a saloon and a coupe.

Two of those three are electric; one is petrol. So the choice is mostly about how you'll use the car - a two-seater for the driving, or a five-seat electric Lotus that has to do school runs and motorway miles as well.

If you want the full-size, practical end of the brand, that's the Eletre. It's the electric SUV of the range, with five seats, a 688-litre boot and a body 5.10 m long, and it's the model in the line-up built to tow.

About Lotus

Lotus is a British performance brand that built its reputation on lightweight sports cars and the way they steer. Today it also builds large electric cars, and two of the three models we lease are electric.

Reviewers consistently praise Lotus for chassis tuning and for cabins that have moved a long way upmarket, while noting that the bigger electric models carry far more weight than the brand's history suggests. The range spans from the 4.41 m Emira to the 5.14 m Emeya, which tells you how far the brand now stretches.

On the electric side, the battery warranty runs to 8 years / 125,000 miles, guaranteeing 70% of capacity - a meaningful commitment on cars of this type, and one worth knowing about even on a lease.

The Lotus range we lease

Three models, three very different jobs. The Eletre is the electric SUV, the Emeya is the electric saloon, and the Emira is the petrol two-seat coupe. Each has its own page with the trims and deals we can arrange.

SUV

The Lotus Eletre is the practical choice in the range: five seats, a 688-litre boot and 5.10 m of length, with braked towing of up to 2,250 kg - the most of any Lotus we lease. It comes with a 5-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty, across 6 trims. Deals start from £1,600.51 a month.

Coupe

The Lotus Emira is the petrol two-seater, and the one that answers the traditional Lotus brief. At 4.41 m long with a 359-litre boot, it suits a driver who wants involvement over space, and it carries a 3-year / unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty across 5 trims. Deals start from £1,746.26 a month.

Saloon

The Lotus Emeya is the electric saloon: five seats, a 509-litre boot and 5.14 m of length, with a 5-year manufacturer warranty and 7 trims to choose between. It's the pick if you want an electric Lotus that sits low rather than high. Deals start from £1,676.81 a month.

Electric and hybrid Lotus models

Two of the three Lotus models we lease are electric only: the Eletre SUV and the Emeya saloon. Both seat five, and both are covered by the same battery terms, so the decision between them comes down to body style and space.

The Eletre gives you the higher driving position, a 688-litre boot and braked towing of up to 2,250 kg. The Emeya keeps five seats and a 509-litre boot in a 5.14 m saloon body.

Across the electric models, the battery warranty is 8 years / 125,000 miles, guaranteeing 70% of capacity. If you're moving away from petrol for the first time, our electric and hybrid leasing guides cover charging, running costs and what to expect day to day.

Why lease a Lotus?

Leasing means you use the car for a fixed term at a fixed monthly rental and hand it back at the end, which sidesteps the question of what a low-volume performance car is worth in three or four years' time. Manufacturer warranty cover sits behind you throughout.

Those warranties differ by model, so check the one you're choosing. The Emira comes with a 3-year / unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty, which is unusual and genuinely useful if your two-seater is also your weekend tourer.

The Eletre has a 5-year / 100,000-mile warranty and the Emeya a 5-year warranty, with the 8-year / 125,000-mile battery warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity on the electric models. Our team has arranged leases for over 25 years, and we'll talk you through terms, mileage and servicing before you commit.

Which Lotus should you choose?

Start with what you need the car to do. Three models means the decision is quick once you know whether you want two seats or five, petrol or electric, and whether anything needs towing.

Smallest and easiest to place on a tight street: the Emira, at 4.41 m. It's the only two-seater here, with a 359-litre boot, so it works as a second car or a single-occupant daily.

The family choices are the Eletre and the Emeya, both with five seats. The Eletre offers a 688-litre boot and a taller SUV shape; the Emeya has a 509-litre boot in a 5.14 m saloon body.

Towing: the Eletre, with braked towing of up to 2,250 kg. Going electric: either the Eletre or the Emeya, both electric-only.

There is no seven-seat Lotus - five seats is the maximum across the range, so a larger household will need to look elsewhere. If you're weighing mileage and term as well as model, our guide to choosing your car is a sensible next read.

Lotus leasing FAQs

It varies by model. The Eletre has a 5-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty, the Emeya a 5-year warranty, and the Emira a 3-year / unlimited-mileage warranty. The electric models also carry a battery warranty of 8 years / 125,000 miles, guaranteeing 70% of capacity.

The Eletre or the Emeya, as both seat five. The Eletre is the SUV, with a 688-litre boot; the Emeya is the saloon, with a 509-litre boot. The Emira seats two, so it isn't a family car.

Yes. Two of the three models we lease are electric only: the Eletre SUV and the Emeya saloon. The Emira coupe is petrol. All electric versions share the same 8-year / 125,000-mile battery warranty.

The Eletre, with braked towing of up to 2,250 kg. Towing capacity can differ between trims, so confirm the figure for the exact version you're leasing before you order a towbar.

The Emira, at 4.41 m long. The range stretches to the Emeya at 5.14 m, so there's a clear gap between the two-seat coupe and the larger electric models when it comes to parking and garage space.

It depends on what is available at the time - funder support, stock and term all move the numbers week to week, so the cheapest Lotus this month may not be next month. Check the live Lotus deals on this page for today's rentals.
