The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is the two-door performance coupe that sits at the top of Mercedes-Benz's sports car line-up. Four seats, a 4.73 m body and up to 805 bhp, depending on which version you choose.
It's a car for someone who wants proper long-distance ability alongside the drama: four seats, a boot of 182 to 321 litres depending on version, and a driving experience reviewers describe as far more usable than the model it replaced.
The choice is straightforward. One body style, petrol or plug-in hybrid power, and three trims - GT, GT Pro and GT S Performance.

The AMG GT is Mercedes-AMG's flagship coupe, in the current second-generation form with four seats.
Road testers consistently praise the way it covers ground - fast, composed and easier to live with than the old car, with two small rear seats that genuinely widen its appeal. The common criticism is that it has traded some of the original's raw, snarling character for polish, and that the ride stays alert even in its softest setting.
Every version is automatic, every version rides on 21-inch alloys, and the whole range comes with a three-year manufacturer warranty with no mileage limit. Servicing is every 12 months or 12,500 miles.
Because the AMG GT arrives generously equipped whichever version you pick, and leasing lets you run one on a fixed monthly rental for a set term rather than tying up capital in a car that changes hands at six figures.
Standard across the range: a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, self-steering parking, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, a digital instrument cluster with built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats with electric adjustment and memory, a heated steering wheel, a fixed panoramic glass roof, climate control and ambient lighting.
Driver assistance is thorough too - blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition and autonomous emergency braking all feature, with adaptive cruise control available as a factory option on every trim. Worth specifying at order stage if you do motorway miles, because it can't be added later.
One practical note from a leasing point of view: the AMG GT sits in insurance group 50, and the spare is a tyre repair kit rather than a wheel. Both are worth checking before you commit.
Two choices: petrol, or plug-in hybrid. Both use a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and the decision comes down to whether you want the simplicity of a pure combustion car or the extra performance the hybrid brings.
Power runs from 415 to 604 bhp depending on version, with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available and 0-62 mph in 3.2 to 4.6 seconds. Economy is 20.2 to 27.4 mpg and CO2 235 to 319 g/km. No charging, no cable, and the biggest boot in the range at 321 litres.
The plug-in hybrid pairs a 4-litre turbo V8 with a 4.8 kWh battery for 805 bhp, 850 Nm, all-wheel drive and 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds. You can charge it at home - 25 to 100% takes around 1.5 hours at 3.7 kW on the best version - but the battery is small and the boot drops to 182 litres.

Three trims, and they largely track the powertrain: GT and GT Pro are petrol, GT S Performance is the plug-in hybrid.
The entry point is 415 bhp and rear-wheel drive, on 21-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloys with leather upholstery. It brings MBUX navigation premium, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the fixed panoramic glass sunroof, a heated AMG Performance steering wheel in black nappa leather, adaptive suspension, a rear-view camera and automatic parking assist.
The GT is currently available from £1,704.52 a month.
GT Pro starts at 604 bhp with all-wheel drive and swaps to 21-inch "Cross Spoke" alloys. Over the GT it adds MBUX augmented reality for navigation, a head-up display, ventilated front seats and four-wheel steering - the last of which noticeably sharpens a car of this length.
The GT Pro is currently available from £2,955.49 a month. Against the GT, that is currently £1,250.98/mo more expensive.
This is the plug-in hybrid: 805 bhp, all-wheel drive, 21-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloys. Against the GT it gains augmented reality navigation, a head-up display, four-wheel steering, ventilated and massaging multicontour front seats, and an AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather and microcut microfibre.
The GT S Performance is currently available from £3,066.80 a month.
The 2St Pack is offered as an add-on rather than a trim of its own, so if you see it listed on a deal it's an option on that version. Our team can confirm what's included on any given build before you order.
