Ford has spent decades building cars for people who actually have to use them, and reviewers still single out the brand for chassis tuning that makes ordinary family models genuinely enjoyable to drive. That reputation runs right through the current Ford line-up.

There are 11 Ford models in our prices today, spread across MPV, SUV, Coupe, Estate and Hatchback body styles, with petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions between them.

Choosing is mostly a question of shape and fuel: pick the body style that fits your life first, then decide how much of your driving can be done on electricity.

About Ford

Ford is a mass-market brand with an unusual habit: its cars tend to steer and ride better than the class average. Reviewers consistently make that point about its SUVs, and it is the thread linking a compact crossover to a V8 coupe.

The range we lease stretches from the Puma at one end to the Transit Custom at the other, which is a wide brief for one badge to cover. Five of the 11 models are electric-only or offer a fully electric version, so moving away from petrol doesn't mean leaving the brand.

Every Ford we price carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty, with the mileage limit varying by model. On the electric and hybrid models there's also an 8-year / 100,000-mile battery warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity.

The Ford range we lease

Eleven models, five body styles. The SUVs cover most family needs, the estates and MPVs handle people and loads, the Focus is the traditional hatchback and the Mustang is the indulgence. Here's what each one is for.

SUV

The Ford Capri is an electric five-seater with a coupe-influenced roofline, 4.63 m long, with a boot of 567 to 572 litres depending on version. It tows up to 1,000 kg braked and comes in four trims, under a 3-year / 60,000-mile warranty. Deals start from £346.07 a month.

The Ford Explorer takes the more upright, squared-off approach to the same idea. At 4.47 m it's an easier size for tight streets, seats five, holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and tows up to 1,000 kg braked across four trims. Deals start from £294.56 a month.

The Ford Kuga is the conventional family SUV, offered as petrol, self-charging hybrid or plug-in hybrid. It's about 4.60 m long, with a 628 to 645-litre boot depending on version, towing up to 2,100 kg braked, and there are seven trims to choose from. Deals start from £312.41 a month.

The Ford Mustang Mach-e is the sportier reading of an electric SUV, about 4.71 m long with five seats, a 402-litre boot and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Two trims, and the same 3-year / 60,000-mile warranty as the rest of the cars. Deals start from £402.52 a month.

The Ford Puma is the small one, roughly 4.19 m long, available as petrol or electric. Boot space runs from 456 to 556 litres depending on version, it tows up to 1,100 kg braked, holds a 4-star Euro NCAP rating and spans ten trims. Deals start from £290.45 a month.

Hatchback

The Ford Focus is the family hatchback that made Ford's reputation for handling, and it's petrol-only here. Five seats, a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, three trims and three body styles, each with its own page linked from the model page. Deals start from £296.50 a month.

Estate

The Ford Grand Tourneo Connect is the long one, about 4.85 m, with five or seven seats and a boot of 446 to 1,720 litres depending on version. Petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid, towing up to 1,500 kg braked, with a 3-year / 100,000-mile warranty. Deals start from £444.59 a month.

The Ford Tourneo Connect is the shorter version at about 4.50 m, still with five or seven seats and a 191 to 1,213-litre boot depending on version. It holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and tows up to 1,500 kg braked. Deals start from £438.11 a month.

MPV

The Ford Tourneo Courier packs a 1,002-litre boot into 4.34 m, which is the whole point of a boxy shape. Five seats, petrol or electric, 4-star Euro NCAP, towing up to 1,000 kg braked, two trims. Deals start from £371.05 a month.

The Ford Transit Custom is the big diesel five-seater, about 5.05 m long, and it's the towing champion of the Ford range at up to 2,500 kg braked. Two trims, 3-year / 100,000-mile warranty. Deals start from £1,207.70 a month.

Coupe

The Ford Mustang is the petrol four-seat coupe, about 4.81 m long, and reviewers are clear that it's bought with the heart. Two trims and three body styles, each with its own page linked from the model page. Deals start from £759.44 a month.

Electric and hybrid Ford models

Five of the 11 models offer an electric version and three offer a plug-in hybrid, so there's a Ford for almost every stage of the switch - full EV, plug-in, or a self-charging hybrid that never needs a cable.

Capri, Explorer and Mustang Mach-e are electric only. Puma and Tourneo Courier give you the choice of petrol or electric in the same body, which is useful if the rest of the household isn't convinced yet.

Kuga covers the middle ground with petrol, self-charging hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, while Grand Tourneo Connect and Tourneo Connect offer a plug-in hybrid alongside petrol and diesel. On the electric and hybrid models the battery warranty runs 8 years / 100,000 miles, guaranteeing 70% of capacity. Why lease a Ford?

A typical lease sits neatly inside Ford's cover. Every model we price has a 3-year manufacturer warranty, mileage limits varying by model, and the electric and hybrid models add the 8-year / 100,000-mile battery warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity.

Leasing itself covers road tax for the contract term and the manufacturer's warranty travels with the car, so your fixed monthly rental plus servicing, tyres and insurance is close to your whole motoring bill. You hand the car back at the end, which takes resale value off your plate entirely.

The Grand Tourneo Connect makes the point well: seven seats, a plug-in hybrid option and a 3-year / 100,000-mile warranty is a lot of practicality to commit to buying outright, and rather easier to commit to for three or four years.

Which Ford should you choose?

Start with the job the car has to do. Five questions cover most people, and each has a clear answer in the Ford range.

For town driving and tight parking, the Puma is the shortest Ford we lease at about 4.19 m, and it still offers 456 to 556 litres of boot depending on version.

For a growing family, the Kuga is the obvious mainstream pick, with a 628 to 645-litre boot and a choice of petrol, self-charging hybrid or plug-in hybrid power.

If you tow, the Transit Custom manages up to 2,500 kg braked, more than any other Ford we price. The Kuga's 2,100 kg braked limit covers most caravans if you'd rather have a car-sized SUV.

Going electric? Capri, Explorer and Mustang Mach-e are electric only, and the Puma and Tourneo Courier offer electric versions.
