View dealThe Ford Transit Custom here is the Nugget: a five-seat MPV, sold with a full Ford warranty behind it.
It suits couples and small families who want weekends away without owning a caravan, and who'd rather have one vehicle doing both jobs. At from about 5.05 metres long and 2.04 metres tall, it's a big thing, but no bigger than the van it's based on.
The choice is simple: one body, a 2-litre diesel engine with 148–168 bhp, manual or automatic, front- or all-wheel drive, and two trims - Nugget Titanium and Nugget Active.

This is the current Transit Custom, on sale in this form since 2023. Five seats, a length from about 5.05 metres, and a 3-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty - unusual reassurance in a market full of small-volume conversions.
Reviewers consistently praise the layout, and build quality gets steady approval. The common criticism is that with four people aboard it feels snug, and some of the camping hardware takes practice.
On the road it drives like a well-sorted van - easy to place, comfortable at a cruise, and the diesel gets a bit vocal when pushed. Braked towing runs up to 2,500 kg on the strongest version.
Because the kit list is generous before you open a single option box, and because a lease keeps a specialist, expensive vehicle on a fixed monthly cost for a fixed term. That matters more on a camper than on an ordinary family car.
Every version gets heated front seats, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, privacy glass, ambient lighting, roof rails and rain-sensing wipers. Power-folding mirrors and automatic headlights are standard too.
On safety, the whole range has autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, automatic high beam, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. Handy, given the dimensions.
One leasing point worth raising early with our team: campers are often driven few miles but stored for long periods, so think carefully about the annual mileage you commit to. Our guide to choosing mileage, term and spec is a sensible read first.
There's one engine family to consider, so the real decisions are gearbox and driven wheels. Diesel remains the sensible fit for a heavy vehicle that tows, carries camping gear and covers long distances to reach the good places.
The 2-litre diesel produces 148–168 bhp, with a 6 or 8-speed gearbox and front- or all-wheel drive. Official economy is 31.0–32.5 mpg with CO2 of 228–239 g/km from a 55-litre tank. All-wheel drive suits damp grass, forest tracks and winter trips; front-wheel drive is fine for most.
| Diesel | |

| Seats | 5 |
| Braked towing | 2300–2500 kg |
| Economy (WLTP) | 31–32.5 mpg |
Two trims, both five-seat, both riding on 17-inch alloy wheels with cloth upholstery. Nugget Titanium is the more conventional-looking one; Nugget Active brings the outdoorsy styling and folds several driver-assistance features into the standard price.
Titanium starts the range at 148 bhp with front-wheel drive, on 17-inch "Twin Spoke" alloy wheels, with fixed LED headlamps, privacy glass and air conditioning. Adaptive cruise control, built-in navigation, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, a heated steering wheel and a fixed towbar are all available as options.
The Nugget Titanium is currently available from £1,218.12 a month.
Active swaps to 17-inch "Y-spoke" alloys and a more rugged look, and makes standard what Titanium charges for: adaptive cruise control, built-in navigation, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and dual-zone climate control. A 360-degree camera, heated steering wheel and fixed or retractable towbar stay optional.
The Nugget Active is currently available from £1,296.28 a month. Against the Nugget Titanium, that is currently £78.16/mo more expensive.
Paint runs to seven colours across the range: Agate black, Artisan red, Blue, Frozen white, Grey matter, Magnetic and Moondust silver. Worth checking which are available on the deal you're looking at, because that varies.
