View dealThe Volvo XC60 is a five-seat premium SUV that sits between the smaller XC40 and the seven-seat XC90 in Volvo's range. It's the middle-sized option, and for most families that's the sweet spot.
Reviewers consistently describe it as comfortable rather than sporty: a calm, well-finished SUV with excellent seats and a quiet way of covering long distances, rather than a car that chases its German rivals down a back road.
The choice here is simple enough. One body style, two powertrains - a 247 bhp petrol or a plug-in hybrid - and seven trims from Core up to Ultra Black Edition, with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox on every version.

The current XC60 is the second-generation car, on sale in this form since 2025. It's 4.71 m long with a 2.87 m wheelbase, seats five, and carries 468 to 483 litres in the boot depending on version.
Road testers praise the cabin above all else - materials, design and seat comfort - and note that the XC60 majors on refinement rather than handling sharpness. The minimalist screen-led layout divides opinion, so it's worth a proper sit-in before you order.
Volvo covers it with a 3-year / 60,000-mile warranty, with the plug-in hybrid's battery covered for 8 years / 100,000 miles. Servicing falls due every 12 months or 18,000 miles, and there's a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel.
Because every XC60, in every trim, arrives with the equipment most families actually use: adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and built-in navigation on Core upwards.
Safety kit is standard across the board too - autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. Four-wheel drive comes on every version, and the petrol will tow up to 2,400 kg braked.
On a lease, the things worth deciding early are wheel size and towing. A retractable towbar is a factory option across the range, so it has to be specified at order, not added later - our team can check what a particular deal includes. Our guide to choosing your car covers spec and mileage decisions in more detail.
Two choices: a 2-litre turbo petrol, or a plug-in hybrid using the same engine with a battery. Both are automatic and all-wheel drive.
The 2-litre turbo produces 247 bhp and 360 Nm, reaching 62 mph in 6.9 seconds through an 8-speed automatic. WLTP economy is 32.4-37.6 mpg with CO2 of 170-179 g/km. No plugging in, 483 litres of boot, and the higher 2,400 kg braked towing limit.
Power runs from 330 to 449 bhp depending on version, with 0-62 mph in 4.9-5.7 seconds. The 18.8 kWh battery (14.7 kWh usable) charges from 0-100% in three hours at 11.5 kW on the best version. It suits drivers who can charge at home; boot space is 468 litres and braked towing 2,250 kg.
