The Porsche Macan is an impressive SUV offering what is the best drive in its class. There's also lots of style of space on board a vehicle that offers sports car performance.
Of the engines in the Macan line-up: there's an excellent 3.0 litre V6 diesel from Audi that will produce 254bhp and will help the Macan rocket from 0 to 62 mph in just over six seconds. That impressive performance is underpinned by economy of 46 mpg and emissions of 159g/km.
Drivers can also choose from a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine that will produce 233bhp and a 3.0 litre V6 petrol unit that produces 355bhp. Opt for the Macan Turbo and the 3.6 litre twin turbocharged V6 petrol engine will produce 394bhp and help propel it from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds.
The Macan is impressively agile and though the suspension is quite firm, it's a good on roads and comfortable on long trips. There's the option of an air suspension system which is more comfortable to ride in than the standard suspension. The vehicle also handles really well and utilises the firm's PASM system which means there's little in the way of body roll on tight corners and it helps to improve comfort levels. The Macan is fitted with Porsche's seven-speed PDK automatic transmission which is an effective performer particularly on winding country roads and in towns. And it must be said that the vehicle’s four-wheel-drive system helps make it a capable off-roader and provides extra grip on loose surfaces such as snow.
There are three trim levels for the Macan and all of them offer a practical vehicle that is not only fast but comfortable to drive over long distances. Standard equipment includes a power operated tailgate, automatic wipers, alloy wheels dual zone climate control.
The Macan is the baby brother to the Cayenne and it's a lot of fun to drive with great performance on- and off-road. This is an SUV that is not only fast and a great performer on motorways but it's also capable of being a good performer off-road too.
