The Peugeot 3008 is a five-seat family SUV with a coupe-style roofline, a 588-litre boot and a choice of petrol, plug-in hybrid or fully electric power. It sits in the middle of Peugeot's SUV line-up, above the small 2008 and below the seven-seat 5008.

It's aimed at drivers who want a mid-size family car that doesn't look like everything else in the school car park. Road testers consistently praise the cabin design and the big curved display; the criticism is usually rear legroom and steering feel.

About the Peugeot 3008

The current 3008 is the third generation of the model, on sale in this form since 2023. It's a five-door, five-seat SUV measuring 4.54 metres long on a 2.74-metre wheelbase, with a 588-litre boot that grows to 1,663 litres with the rear seats folded.

Reviewers are near-unanimous on two points: the interior looks and feels a class above its price, and the car is tuned for comfort rather than corners. Peugeot's i-Cockpit layout - small wheel, instruments set high above it - divides opinion, so it's worth sitting in one before you order.

Warranty cover is three years or 60,000 miles, with an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty on electric versions guaranteeing 70% of capacity. Euro NCAP awarded the 3008 four stars, with 80% for adult occupant protection and 62% for safety assist.

Why lease a Peugeot 3008?

Because the standard kit list is strong from the entry trim upwards, and leasing keeps you in a car whose tech moves quickly. Every 3008 gets built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus keyless entry and start.

Safety and assistance equipment is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors. Dual-zone climate control, privacy glass, ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers and an electric parking brake are fitted to every version.

Practicality is decent rather than cavernous. The 588-litre boot is the same whichever powertrain you pick, and braked towing runs from 1,000kg up to 1,550kg on the plug-in hybrid. Servicing is every 12 to 24 months or 16,000 miles, depending on version.

Which 3008 powertrain is right for me?

Three choices: petrol if you can't charge, plug-in hybrid if you can charge at home and want a petrol back-up, electric if most of your driving suits a plug. All are automatic.

Petrol

The 1.2-litre turbo petrol has 143bhp, a six-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive. It never needs plugging in, returns 45.2-53.3mpg on the official WLTP test, and does 0-62mph in 10.2 seconds. Braked towing is 1,000kg. The straightforward option for high-mileage drivers without a charger.

Plug-in hybrid

The 1.6-litre plug-in hybrid pairs petrol and electric power for 222bhp, a seven-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. It charges from a plug for short electric-only journeys and runs on petrol beyond that, so it only makes sense if you can charge regularly. It's also the strongest tow car here at 1,550kg braked.

Electric

The electric 3008 uses a 73-97kWh battery, offers 210-321bhp, and comes with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. WLTP range runs up to 435 miles on the biggest battery, and the best version charges 20-80% in 27 minutes at 160kW, or 4.5 hours at 11kW at home. Allure

Allure brings Eco LED headlights, 19-inch "Breda" alloy wheels, cloth and leather upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a driver vigilance camera, Peugeot Open & Go keyless entry and push-button start, and dark tinted privacy glass. Heated front seats and a 360-degree camera are available as options. The Allure is currently available from £469.08 a month inc VAT.

Allure Premium

Allure Premium adds 19-inch BREDA diamond-cut alloys with an orbital black centre cap, body-coloured parking sensors and the 360 vision and drive assist pack with adaptive cruise control - which also brings front parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, heated front seats and automatic high beam. A retractable towbar is optional. The Allure Premium is currently available from £482.26 a month inc VAT. Against the Allure, that is currently £13.18/mo more expensive (inc VAT).

GT

GT adds adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go for traffic, eight-colour extended ambient lighting and manual lumbar adjustment for the driver, along with matrix LED headlights, a heated steering wheel, hands-free tailgate and artificial leather upholstery. A panoramic opening roof is optional. The GT is currently available from £513.04 a month inc VAT. Against the Allure Premium, that is currently £30.78/mo more expensive (inc VAT).

GT Premium

GT Premium is the comfort-led choice: a 360-degree camera, massaging front seats, heated rear seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory, blind-spot monitoring and active lane-change assist, plus Alcantara and leather trim. For most families, yes. It seats five, the boot holds 588 litres with the seats up and 1,663 litres folded, and safety kit is standard. The one caveat reviewers raise repeatedly is rear legroom, which is tighter than the roomiest rivals - worth checking with teenagers aboard.

To get the best from it, yes. The plug-in hybrid can run on petrol alone, but its efficiency depends on starting journeys with a charged battery. If you can't plug in at home or work, the 1.2-litre petrol is the more sensible pick.

Official WLTP range is 306 to 435 miles depending on battery and drivetrain, with 435 miles from the largest 97kWh battery. Efficiency is quoted at 3.5-3.7 miles per kWh. Real-world range will be lower in winter, as with any electric car.

Braked towing capacity ranges from 1,000kg to 1,550kg depending on version, with the plug-in hybrid rated highest at 1,550kg. The petrol is limited to 1,000kg. A retractable towbar is a factory option on Allure Premium and GT Premium, so specify it at order - it can't be added later on a lease car without our agreement.

Three years or 60,000 miles from Peugeot, plus an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty on electric versions guaranteeing at least 70% of original capacity. On a typical three or four-year lease, that covers most or all of your contract.
