The Peugeot 3008 offers families an MPV that is not only good to drive but has economical engines and a versatile and spacious interior. For many fans, the 3008 combines the practicality of a hatchback, the performance of an SUV to create a unique people carrier.
Owners can enjoy 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre diesel engines and a 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine; all of them offer decent performance levels. However, the 1.6 litre BlueHDi diesel unit is probably the best choice since it produces 118 bhp with economy of around 69 mpg and emissions of 108g/km. Peugeot have also produced a hybrid version of its 3008, the Hybrid4, which will return around 80mpg with just 99g/km of CO2 emissions. For most families, the car is great around town, there's plenty of power and it's an agile performer. While the petrol engine is more responsive, the PureTech unit only returns 58 mpg.
The 3008 has space and agility with an interior that is versatile and spacious. The vehicle has the handling abilities of a decent family hatchback along with the off-roading abilities of an SUV. Indeed, the handling of the 3008 is most impressive on motorways, it's an excellent cruiser, and while it's good on winding roads there is some body roll because of its soft suspension though it's also a comfortable drive in towns. The relaxing environment is also helped with excellent levels of insulation so the cabin itself is very quiet from road noise and the diesel engines are also quiet and smooth.
The interior is a nicely designed and well put together place to spend time, with equipment including air con, electric parking brake, electric windows and alloy wheels. There's also rear parking sensors, cruise control, electric folding mirrors and 'dynamic roll control' which helps to improve handling. Other models come with satnav and panoramic sunroof.
The 3008 is a compact crossover vehicle which is truly worthy of the name since it has the abilities of a rugged SUV and the practical side of MPV. The crossover market in the UK is the fastest-growing sector with many buyers appreciating the abilities of such vehicles in a variety of environments. Though some crossover cars aren’t really so well-designed, that's not the case with the 3008 which is a well built and well-designed car that helps to set the standards others can only aspire to.
