The OMODA 9 is a five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV sold in one body style with a 443bhp 1.5-litre turbo petrol-electric powertrain and all-wheel drive. Two trims are offered, Noble and Black Noble, both heavily equipped as standard and covered by a seven-year manufacturer warranty.
The OMODA 9 is a five-seat family SUV, sold as a plug-in hybrid SUV. There's one body style, one plug-in hybrid powertrain and two trims, Noble and Black Noble, so choosing is refreshingly simple.
It suits a household that wants a big, heavily equipped SUV and can charge at home or at work. With 660 litres of boot space, 1,500 kg of braked towing capacity and a 7-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty, it's built around family use rather than badge appeal.
Because the powertrain is the same whichever trim you pick, your decision comes down to how you want the car to look and feel inside, not what it can do.

The 9 is OMODA's flagship: a 4.78-metre, five-seat SUV sold only as a plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive. It's the brand's most ambitious car, aimed squarely at mainstream and premium family SUVs on equipment rather than heritage.
Reviewers consistently praise the length of the standard kit list, the space in the back and the smoothness of the hybrid system, which runs on electric power for much of the time and hands over to the petrol engine without drama. Criticism tends to focus on handling that feels less polished than long-established rivals, and on controls that live in the touchscreen.
OMODA is new to the UK, which is part of why that 7-year / 100,000-mile warranty matters. Euro NCAP awarded the 9 the full five stars, with 90% for adult occupant protection.
Because there's no options list to argue over. Every 9 arrives with the same long specification, so the car you lease is the car reviewers tested, and the only real variable in the contract is term, mileage and trim.
Standard across the range: adaptive cruise control, head-up display, 360-degree camera, opening panoramic roof, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, wireless charging, built-in navigation and dual-zone climate control.
Safety kit is equally complete, with autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automatic parking assist and front and rear parking sensors fitted to every version. Practicality is strong too: 660 litres with the rear seats up, 1,783 litres folded.
One thing worth checking before you order, since it's the question our team hears most about plug-in hybrids: whether you can realistically plug in at home. Our electric and hybrid leasing guides cover that in more detail.
There's only one, so the answer is straightforward: every OMODA 9 is a plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. It needs charging to be at its best, and it suits drivers who can plug in regularly.
A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine works with electric motors and a 34.5 kWh battery, which is unusually large for a plug-in hybrid. It's quick, 0-62 mph takes 4.9 seconds, but it's tuned for smoothness rather than sport. Charging takes 30-80% in 25 minutes at 70 kW, or 5.5 hours at 6.6 kW at home.
| Plug-in hybrid | |
|---|---|
| Boot | 660 litres |
| Power | 443 bhp |
| Seats | 5 |
| Battery | 34.5 kWh |
| 0–62 mph | 4.9 s |
| Braked towing | 1500 kg |
Both trims share the same 443 bhp powertrain, all-wheel drive, 20-inch alloy wheels and leather upholstery, so the difference between them is presentation rather than capability.
The Noble covers everything most families need: 20-inch alloys, connected navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 540-degree panoramic camera with transparent chassis view, a leather steering wheel, leather upholstery, air conditioning and a rear-view camera.
The Noble is currently available from £442.64 a month.
The Black Noble is about the look. It adds a black suede interior ceiling over the Noble, plus roof rails, and pairs naturally with the darker paint choices such as iced jasper black or onyx black. Mechanically and on equipment, it's the same car underneath.
The Black Noble is currently available from £456.24 a month. Against the Noble, that is currently £13.60/mo more expensive.
If you're weighing the 9 against other plug-in and family SUVs, the Volvo XC60 is the closest premium equivalent on size, the CUPRA Formentor and Ford Kuga sit a size below, and the JAECOO 8 covers similar ground. More options sit on our OMODA leasing page.
