The XPENG G6 is a five-seat electric SUV offered in Standard Range, Long Range and Performance forms, with up to 326 miles of WLTP range and very fast rapid charging. This page explains who it suits and how to choose between the three versions before you pick a lease deal.
The XPENG G6 is a five-seat electric SUV, and it's the car that introduced XPENG to British drivers. It's aimed squarely at families who want a big, well-equipped electric car with genuinely long-distance charging ability.
There's one body style, one powertrain type and three versions to weigh up: Standard Range, Long Range and the 480bhp Performance. All are automatic, all are electric, and drive goes to the rear wheels or all four depending on which you pick.
Reviewers tend to agree on the shape of it: plenty of space, a lot of standard technology, a comfort-first character rather than a sporty one. If that's what you want from a family EV, the G6 makes a strong case.

The G6 is a 4.76m electric SUV with a coupe-influenced roofline, five seats and a boot of 571 to 647 litres depending on version. It sits at the heart of XPENG's UK range, which the brand builds around technology rather than traditional motoring credentials.
XPENG describes itself as a technology company that makes cars, and the G6 shows it: road testers consistently praise the slick infotainment software, the quality of the cabin materials and the sheer amount of kit included as standard.
The common criticisms are equally consistent. Ride quality over poor surfaces divides opinion, the steering isn't especially involving, and putting almost every control on the touchscreen frustrates some drivers. Against that, XPENG covers the car with a 5-year / 75,000-mile warranty and the G6 scored the full 5 stars with Euro NCAP.
Because the G6's appeal is largely about technology, and leasing lets you hand that technology back after two, three or four years rather than owning it as it ages. Every version also arrives with a lot of equipment, so there's little to specify and little to argue over.
Standard across the range: adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, a fixed panoramic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a powered tailgate, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a heat pump, which matters more than most people realise for winter efficiency.
The safety kit is equally thorough, with autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist and self-steering parking fitted to every G6. Euro NCAP awarded 88% for adult occupant protection and 85% for child occupant protection.
There's only one: electric. Battery capacity runs from 68.5kWh to 80.8kWh depending on version, power from 248 to 480bhp, and every G6 is an automatic.
WLTP range runs from 292 miles up to 326 miles on the best version, with rear- or all-wheel drive depending on which you choose. Charging is the party piece: 10-80% in 12 minutes at 451kW on the fastest version, or 5-100% in 12.2 hours from an 11kW home wallbox. Our guide to charging an electric car covers the practicalities.
| Electric | |
|---|---|
| Boot | 571–647 litres |
| Power | 248–480 bhp |
| Seats | 5 |
| Battery | 68.5–80.8 kWh |
| 0–62 mph | 4.1–6.9 s |
| Electric range (WLTP) | 292–326 miles |
Three versions, and the honest answer is that they differ more in battery, power and upholstery than in equipment, because the standard specification is generous throughout.
The entry version: 248bhp, rear-wheel drive, 20-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels, LED headlights, artificial leather upholstery, the smart navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the panoramic skylight with its heat-insulating sunshade. Automatic parking assist and a rear-view camera are included.
The Standard Range is currently available from £409.87 a month.
Starting from 292bhp and rear-wheel drive, the Long Range adds Nappa leather upholstery with suede ceiling pillars, a massage function for the front seats and active lane-change assist. With its larger battery, it's a strong choice for regular motorway miles.
The Long Range is currently available from £427.63 a month. Against the Standard Range, that is currently £17.76/mo more expensive.
Then there's the quick one. The Performance produces 480bhp and all-wheel drive, with 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 126mph. Its equipment mirrors the Long Range, so this is a choice about pace and looks rather than extra features.
The Performance is currently available from £475.01 a month. Against the Long Range, that is currently £47.38/mo more expensive.
