Volkswagen ID.4 Lease Deals

The Volkswagen ID.4 is a five-seat electric family SUV with a 533-litre boot, rear-wheel drive and a WLTP range of up to 352 miles. This page explains the battery and trim choices - Essential Pure, Essential Pro, Match Pro and Black Edition Pro - so you can pick the right version to lease.

In Stock

The Volkswagen ID.4 is a five-seat electric SUV, and it's the car that took Volkswagen's electric range into family-SUV territory. It's 4.58 metres long, rear-wheel drive, and offers a WLTP range of up to 352 miles on the longest-legged versions.

It suits drivers who want an electric family car that behaves like a conventional Volkswagen: calm, quiet and easy to place on a motorway, rather than sharp or showy. Volkswagen no longer lists the ID.4 in its new-car price list, so the versions here are available while stocks last.

The choice is simple enough. One body, one electric powertrain with a range of battery sizes, and four trims: Essential Pure, then Essential Pro, Match Pro and Black Edition Pro with the more powerful 282 bhp motor.

About the Volkswagen ID.4

The ID.4 has been on sale in this form since 2021. The cabin feels roomier than the 4.58-metre exterior suggests.

Road testers consistently praise the ride comfort and motorway refinement, and they're consistently less keen on the touch-sensitive steering wheel controls and the infotainment software. Nobody calls it exciting to drive - that was never the brief.

What it does well is the family stuff: five seats, a 533-litre boot with the rear seats up and 1,734 litres folded, a five-star Euro NCAP rating, and a three-year or 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty with eight years or 100,000 miles on the battery.

Why lease a Volkswagen ID.4?

Because every ID.4 arrives generously equipped and the running costs are low. Adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard right across the range.

So is the safety kit: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and self-steering parking. Euro NCAP awarded five stars, with 89% for adult occupant protection and 87% for child occupants.

On the practical side you get dual-zone climate control, roof rails and braked towing of up to 1,000 kg. If you're new to electric cars, our electric car guide is a sensible place to start.

Which ID.4 powertrain is right for me?

There's only one: a fully electric, rear-wheel-drive setup with a single-speed automatic. What varies is battery size and motor power.

Electric

Battery capacity runs from 61 kWh to 84 kWh, power from 187 bhp to 282 bhp, and WLTP range from 268 to 352 miles. There's no petrol back-up, so you'll need somewhere to plug in - ideally at home overnight. The best version charges 10-80% in 29 minutes at 165 kW, or 0-100% in 6.5 hours on an 11 kW home supply. Our guide to charging an electric car covers the practicalities.

Which ID.4 trim should I choose?

Four trims, and the main decision is whether you want the entry Essential Pure or the more powerful 282 bhp Pro versions.

Essential Pure

The 187 bhp entry version, with 19-inch steel wheels and cloth upholstery. It gets LED headlights, the navigation infotainment, leatherette door and side trim inserts, heated front seats, air conditioning, front fog lights, automatic parking assist and a driver attention monitor with camera. A heat pump and retractable towbar are options. The Essential Pure is currently available from Price on request a month.

Then come the 282 bhp versions, all still rear-wheel drive.

Essential Pro

Same 19-inch steel wheels and cloth trim as the Essential Pure, but with the more powerful 282 bhp motor. Think of it as a quicker take on the same specification rather than a step up in equipment. Heat pump and retractable towbar remain options. The Essential Pro is currently available from Price on request a month. Against the Essential Pure, that is currently Price comparison unavailable.

Match Pro

Match Pro brings 19-inch "Hamar" alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, automatic high beam, privacy glass, a hands-free tailgate and leatherette on the sides, rear and armrest. A head-up display, 360-degree camera, panoramic glass roof, massaging front seats and an electrically adjustable driver's seat are all available as options. The Match Pro is currently available from Price on request a month. Against the Essential Pro, that is currently Price comparison unavailable.

Black Edition Pro

The darker-styled version, on 19-inch "Onyx" alloys, with the fixed panoramic glass roof and electric sunblind fitted as standard. It also adds front sports seats, power-adjustable lumbar support with massage, electric seat memory, an electrically adjustable driver's seat and 30-colour ambient lighting. The Black Edition Pro is currently available from £490.27 a month. Against the Match Pro, that is currently Price comparison unavailable.

Volkswagen ID.4 FAQs

Yes. It seats five, the boot holds 533 litres with the rear seats up and 1,734 litres folded, and Euro NCAP gave it five stars with 87% for child occupant protection. Reviewers regularly single out its head room and comfortable, upright rear seating position.

Official WLTP range runs from 268 miles to 352 miles depending on which battery the version has - 61 kWh to 84 kWh, of which 58 kWh to 79 kWh is usable. Efficiency is quoted at 3.9 to 4.1 miles per kWh. Real-world figures depend on speed, weather and load.

Peak rapid-charging speed is 105 kW to 165 kW depending on version. At its best, the ID.4 covers 10-80% in 29 minutes on a 165 kW rapid charger, or 0-100% in 6.5 hours on an 11 kW home or workplace supply. A heat pump, which helps in cold weather, is an option on every trim.

It can tow up to 1,000 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked. That's fine for a small trailer, a bike rack or a compact caravan, but not for anything heavy. A retractable towbar is a factory option on every trim, so specify it before you order - it can't be added later on a lease car.

Three years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, plus an eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity. There's also a three-year paintwork guarantee and 12-year anti-corrosion cover. On a typical lease term you'll be within the manufacturer warranty throughout.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time, and the order can change when pricing is refreshed. The Essential Pure is currently from Price on request a month. Since the ID.4 is now stock-only, availability moves quickly - check the current ID.4 deals below, or ask our team.
