The Vauxhall Grandland is the larger family SUV, at 4.65 m with five seats and a 485 to 550-litre boot depending on version. Petrol, plug-in hybrid and electric versions are offered over three trims, and it holds a 4-star Euro NCAP rating. Deals start from £305.47 a month.

The Vauxhall Mokka is the small, style-led SUV for town driving. At 4.15 m with five seats and a 310 to 350-litre boot depending on version, it offers petrol or electric power, four trims and braked towing of up to 1,250 kg. Deals start from £294.25 a month.

Hatchbacks

The Vauxhall Astra is the classic family all-rounder, about 4.37 m long with five seats and a 352 to 597-litre boot depending on version. Petrol, plug-in hybrid and electric versions are available, three trims in all, with braked towing up to 1,400 kg. Deals start from £321.83 a month.

The Vauxhall Corsa is the small hatchback of the range at 4.06 m, with five seats, a 267 to 309-litre boot depending on version and a 4-star Euro NCAP rating. Petrol and electric versions are offered across three trims. Deals start from £202.32 a month.

MPVs

The Vauxhall Combo Life is the van-based people carrier for drivers who want sliding doors and a square boot. Five or seven seats, diesel or electric power, four trims, 209 to 1,050 litres of luggage space depending on version and braked towing up to 1,300 kg. Deals start from £372.84 a month.

The Vauxhall Vivaro Life goes further again, carrying six or nine people in a body about 4.98 m long. Diesel and electric versions are offered across three trims, which makes it the choice for clubs, large families and airport runs. Deals start from £491.56 a month.

Electric and hybrid Vauxhall models

Every Vauxhall we price offers a fully electric version: Corsa, Astra, Mokka, Frontera, Grandland, Combo Life and Vivaro Life. Two of them, Grandland and Astra, also offer a plug-in hybrid - a battery you charge from the mains, plus a petrol engine for longer trips.

That breadth matters if you are switching away from petrol for the first time, because you can pick the body style you actually need and still go electric. A small hatchback, a family SUV or a nine-seat people carrier are all on the table.

Which Vauxhall should you choose?

Start with what you carry and where you park. The Corsa is the easiest to place in a tight space at 4.06 m, and the Mokka does a similar job with a higher seat and SUV styling at 4.15 m.

For general family duty, the Astra covers most bases with a 352 to 597-litre boot depending on version, while Grandland offers five seats, 485 to 550 litres depending on version and a 4-star Euro NCAP rating.

Towing a caravan or trailer? Grandland is rated for the most in the range, at up to 1,500 kg braked, with the Astra next on the list at up to 1,400 kg.

Need seven seats or more? Frontera and Combo Life both offer five or seven, and Vivaro Life carries six or nine.
