The Renault Megane is a family hatchback manufactured by French carmaker Renault. First released in 1996, it was the successor to the popular Renault 19.

The Megane has been available as a three or five-door hatchback, a saloon, a coupe, a convertible, and an estate car. Now in its fifth generation and it has morphed into a very sophisticated full electric car called the Renault Megane E-Tech.

In the 1990s, Renault Sport developed a racing version of the Megane, the Williams Maxi. The Maxi Megane officially represented Renault in the French championship rallies in 1996 and 1997 and in the British rally championships from 1996 to 1999. Famous rally drivers like Martin Rowe drove won championships with the car.

After the Renault works programme was discontinued, many privateers continued to use the Megane as the basis for their cars to compete in the FIA World Rally cup.
