MG MG4 Lease Deals

The MG MG4 is a compact five-seat electric SUV offering up to 338 miles of WLTP range, a 388-litre boot and a seven-year warranty. This page explains the Premium and XPOWER choices and what each one means day to day.

The MG MG4 is a five-seat electric SUV, and it's the car that did more than most to prove an affordable EV could be genuinely good to drive. The current MG4 has been on sale in this form since 2026, sitting in MG's line-up as the sharp-driving electric family car rather than the budget one.

It's electric only, with a 64-77 kWh battery, 228-429 bhp depending on version, and a WLTP range of up to 338 miles. Every version is automatic, with rear- or all-wheel drive available.

The choice is simple: one body style, one powertrain type, and two versions - the everyday Premium and the 429 bhp XPOWER.

About the MG MG4

The MG4 is a 4.29 m, five-seat electric SUV with a 388-litre boot, rising to 1,164 litres with the rear seats folded. It's covered by MG's seven-year / 80,000-mile warranty and holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

Reviewers consistently rate it as one of the better-handling affordable EVs, praising its rear-drive balance and the fact that it doesn't feel generic. The cabin came in for criticism on earlier versions; road testers note the current car addresses that with better materials and a clearer screen setup.

Its battery is warranted for the same seven years and 80,000 miles, guaranteeing 70% of capacity - a point worth knowing even on a lease, because it says something about how MG expects the pack to hold up.

Why lease a MG MG4?

Because the kit list is generous on every version, which keeps the decision simple. Adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, keyless entry and start and built-in navigation are standard across the range.

Safety and assistance are thorough too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition and front and rear parking sensors are fitted to every MG4, alongside that five-star Euro NCAP result (83% adult occupant, 80% child occupant).

Practically, it's a sensible size for UK roads at 4.29 m long, and servicing falls every 12 months or 15,000 miles. Towing is limited to 500 kg braked, so a small trailer only.

Which MG4 powertrain is right for me?

There's one answer here: the MG4 is electric only, so every version plugs in and none of them uses petrol or diesel. What changes between versions is battery size, power and how far you'll go between charges.

Electric

A 64-77 kWh battery (61.7-74.4 kWh usable) gives 228-429 bhp and a WLTP range of 251-338 miles depending on version. The best version rapid-charges 10-80% in 25 minutes at 150 kW, or 10-100% in 10.5 hours on a 7 kW home charger. It suits anyone who can charge at home or work regularly. Our electric car guide covers the basics if this is your first EV.

Which MG4 trim should I choose?

Premium is the version most people will lease; XPOWER is the fast one, and it's a very different car to live with.

Premium

Premium starts at 228 bhp with rear-wheel drive, on 18-inch alloy wheels with artificial leather upholstery. It adds full auto LED headlights with auto high beam and follow-me-home lighting, satellite navigation, Android Auto, a heated leather-style multifunction steering wheel, heated front seats and a rear-view camera.

The Premium is currently available from £300.50 a month.

XPOWER

Then there's the performance MG4. XPOWER produces 429 bhp with all-wheel drive, up to 600 Nm of torque and a 0-62 mph time as low as 3.8 seconds, plus launch control and front sports seats. Over Premium it brings suede-style upholstery and two-way manual lumbar support, on the same 18-inch alloys. Road testers rate it as seriously quick in a straight line rather than a true hot hatch, and its range is towards the lower end of the range, from 251 miles.

The XPOWER is currently available from £317.80 a month. Against the Premium, that is currently £17.29/mo more expensive.

MG MG4 FAQs

It works well for most small families. You get five seats, a 388-litre boot, and a five-star Euro NCAP rating with 80% for child occupant protection. Heated front seats, a 360-degree camera and parking sensors are standard on every version, which helps with school runs and tight car parks.

Between 251 and 338 miles on the WLTP test, depending on which version you choose. Real-world range will be lower in cold weather or at sustained motorway speeds, as with any EV.

On the best version, 10-80% takes 25 minutes at a 150 kW rapid charger, and 10-100% takes 10.5 hours on a 7 kW home wallbox. Most customers charge overnight and only use rapid chargers on longer trips. Our guide on how to charge an electric car explains the options.

Seven years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first, with the battery covered for the same period and guaranteed to retain at least 70% of its capacity. There's also a three-year paintwork guarantee and a seven-year anti-corrosion guarantee. Servicing is due every 12 months or 15,000 miles.

Only lightly. The MG4 is rated at 500 kg braked and 500 kg unbraked, which covers a small box trailer or a bike rack setup, but not a caravan. Roof load is limited to 75 kg. If towing matters, tell our team before you order and we'll point you at something better suited.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time, because rentals change as stock and pricing are refreshed. The Premium is currently from £300.50 a month. Check the live MG4 deals below for today's figures across both versions.
