Leasing an MG Motor UK HS
Engines and performance for the MG HS
The MG HS has just one choice of engine; a responsive 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol unit, which is mated to either a six-speed manual box or a smooth changing seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Economy is around 40mpg.
Equipment and handling
Available since late 2019, the MG HS is a surprisingly comfortable SUV competing in the tough segment. For those families wanting decent performance and lots of equipment wrapped up in a family-friendly SUV, then this is a vehicle to take a close interest in. Not only is it well styled, the interior has been well-designed with soft touch materials and the long kit list includes safety equipment normally found on much more expensive vehicles. The MG is designed in the UK for use here and comes with a seven-year warranty to bring peace of mind in its quality build and reliability. It's now the flagship model of the MG range and it's probably the car that will push its popularity to the fore once more. The distinctive grille is home to the largest ever MG badge and while the HS looks similar to other family crossovers, the similarity ends once you step inside and drivers will appreciate that it has more space than most competitors. The boot size is a useful 463 litres, which expands to 1,454 litres with the rear seats folded flat. Along with an electronic parking brake, standard kit includes push-button start and keyless entry. Other equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert. The MG HS is also easy to drive around town and it's a comfortable cruiser on motorways. It's also a nice handling car on country roads and it's worth looking at the three trim levels to find equipment you really need. Better spec models come with a rear parking camera, rain sensing wipers and large alloys as well as satnav. The top spec MG HS is the 'Exclusive' model which has a choice of leather interiors, dual zone climate control, adjustable heated front sports seats and a panoramic opening sky roof, which really does impress. Essentially, the MG HS is an excellent offering at the cheaper end of the competitive family SUV market, but there's enough about this vehicle to make it a sound choice, particularly for those who want value for money in a well-designed and well-built car.
