View dealThe Audi Q4 SUV is Audi's compact electric family SUV: five seats, a 515-litre boot and a quiet, easy-going way of covering distance. It's the tall, square-roofed version of the Q4, and the one to choose if rear headroom matters.
It suits drivers moving into an electric car for the first time, particularly anyone who can charge at home and wants something that feels like a normal Audi rather than a science project. Reviewers consistently describe it as comfortable, hushed and simple to live with.
The choice is straightforward. One body style on this page, one electric powertrain family with rear- or all-wheel drive, and five trims: Sport, S Line, Black Edition, Launch Edition and Vorsprung.

The current Q4 SUV is a five-seat, five-door electric SUV measuring 4.60 m long on a 2.77 m wheelbase, with a 515-litre boot that grows to 1,487 litres with the rear seats folded.
It sits below Audi's larger electric SUVs, and road testers tend to agree on its character: refined at motorway speed, composed rather than exciting, with an interior that has shifted towards big curved screens. Criticism, where it comes, is usually about range and charging speed against the sharpest rivals rather than anything you'd notice on a school run.
Audi covers it with a 3-year / 60,000-mile warranty, and it holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating with 91% for adult occupant protection.
The SUV is the practical one. It stands 1.63 m tall against the Sportback's 1.61 m, which shows up as rear headroom for taller adults - the point most road testers make when comparing the two shapes.
Oddly, the boot works the other way round: the SUV holds 515 litres seats-up and 1,487 litres folded, while the Q4 Sportback holds 527 litres and 1,460 litres. Both are 4.60 m long, both seat five, and both tow up to 1,200 kg braked depending on version. To see everything together, use the full Audi Q4 range.
Because the standard equipment list is genuinely complete and the running costs are predictable. Every Q4 SUV gets adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, three-zone climate control and built-in navigation with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety kit is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. Euro NCAP awarded 5 stars, with 87% for child occupant protection.
The battery carries its own 8-year / 100,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity - worth knowing even on a lease, because it covers the whole contract several times over. If you're new to EVs, our electric car guide covers charging and jargon in plain English.
There's one powertrain type - fully electric - offered with a range of battery capacities, several power outputs and a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive. All are automatic, and all need charging; there's no petrol backup.
Batteries run from 63 kWh to 82 kWh (59-77 kWh usable), with 201 to 335 bhp and a WLTP range of up to 344 miles on the best version. Rear-wheel drive suits most drivers; all-wheel drive is available if you want traction in poor weather. Expect 3.6 to 4.0 miles per kWh.
Charging tops out at 160-185 kW depending on version, and the best version does 10-80% in 27 minutes at 185 kW. On an 11 kW home or workplace supply, the best version takes 6.5 hours from empty to full. A heat pump is an option on several trims and is worth considering for winter efficiency.
| Electric | |

| Boot | 515 litres |

Sport already has the equipment most drivers need, so the decision is mostly about wheels, screens and parking technology.
The entry trim gets 19-inch 5 V Spoke Aero alloy wheels in black gloss turned finish, LED headlights, cloth upholstery, leatherette door armrests, heated front seats and the 12.8-inch curved touchscreen with navigation. The entry version has 201 bhp and rear-wheel drive. A panoramic roof, heat pump and retractable towbar are all options.
S Line adds 20-inch 5 V Spoke alloys in graphite grey gloss turned finish, leather upholstery, a flat-topped three-spoke leather steering wheel, privacy glass and sports suspension. The same options list applies, including heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and electric driver's seat adjustment with memory.
Black Edition is largely about the look - 20-inch 5 Arm Aero Audi Sport alloys in black metallic - but it also brings comfort kit as standard: heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory, and part-leather upholstery.
Launch Edition is the technology step. It adds a surround-view camera system, Park assist plus, a head-up display, matrix LED headlights and the 12-inch passenger touch display. Its entry version steps up to 282 bhp with rear-wheel drive. Availability of this trim comes and goes, so ask our team what's live.
Vorsprung tops the range with 21-inch 6 Twin Spoke alloys, an opening panoramic sunroof, Park assist pro with remote function and trained parking, adaptive cruise assist with emergency assist, lane-keep assist, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. A heat pump remains optional.
Separately, a Tech Pack adding a head-up display can be specified on some versions. Which trims and packs appear depends on what's available at the time - the deals below are for the SUV only.
If you're cross-shopping, the Volkswagen ID.4 and Ford Explorer cover very similar ground, while the BYD Sealion 7 and Geely EX5 approach the same brief from a different direction. More Audis sit on our Audi leasing page.
