View dealThe Audi Q4 Sportback is the sloping-roof version of Audi's compact electric SUV: five seats, five doors, a 527-litre boot and a battery-only drivetrain, wrapped in a shape that trades a little rear headroom for a cleaner profile.
It sits at the accessible end of Audi's electric line-up, below the larger Q6 and Q8 e-tron models, and it's aimed at drivers who want a premium family car that charges rather than fills up. Company car drivers make up a big slice of the audience, and so do households running one car for school runs and motorway trips alike.
The choice here is simple: one body, one electric powertrain family with a 63-82 kWh battery, and four trims - Sport, S Line, Black Edition and Vorsprung.

The Q4 Sportback is a five-seat electric SUV with a coupe roofline, 4.60 m long, offering 527 litres of boot space with the rear seats up and 1,460 litres folded. Audi covers it with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty.
Reviewers consistently describe it as comfortable, quiet and easy to live with rather than sporty, and they tend to praise the way the sloping roof costs surprisingly little in usable space. The common criticisms are patchy cabin plastics in places and rear visibility hampered by the shallow back window - which is why the standard reversing camera earns its keep.
Range runs to 351 miles on the WLTP test on the longest-legged version, and the battery carries its own eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity.
The Sportback is the style choice; the SUV is the boxier one. Both seat five, both measure 4.60 m long on the same 2.77 m wheelbase, and both tow 1,000-1,200 kg braked depending on version. The differences are shape and space.
At 1.61 m the Sportback stands slightly lower than the 1.63 m Q4 SUV, and the tapering roof takes a little headroom out of the back seats. Oddly, its boot is the bigger of the two with the seats up - 527 litres against 515 - though the SUV wins once folded, at 1,487 litres to 1,460.
If you regularly carry tall adults in the back, look at the SUV. To see both together, use the full Audi Q4 range.
Every Q4 Sportback arrives well equipped: adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and three-zone climate control.
Safety kit is standard across the range too - autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. Euro NCAP awarded the Q4 five stars, with 91% for adult occupant protection, 87% for child occupant, 79% for vulnerable road users and 73% for safety assist.
On the leasing side, what our team gets asked most is mileage and charging. Be honest about both before you order: annual mileage sets your contract, and a home charger changes the daily maths more than any spec choice does.
There's one powertrain family here, in several states of tune.
Battery capacity runs from 63 kWh to 82 kWh (59-77 kWh usable), power from 201 to 335 bhp, and WLTP range from 265 to 351 miles. All versions are automatic, with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available, and 0-62 mph takes between 5.4 and 8.1 seconds.
Charging tops out at 160-185 kW depending on version; the quickest managing 10-80% in 27 minutes at 185 kW, or a full charge in 6.5 hours from an 11 kW home supply. Official efficiency is 3.7-4.1 miles per kWh. New to this? Our electric car guide covers the basics.
| Electric | |
|---|---|
| Boot | 527 litres |
| Power | 201–335 bhp |
| Seats | 5 |

| Braked towing | 1000–1200 kg |

Four trims, and the jump between them is mostly wheels, trim materials and driver assistance rather than performance - every one starts with the 201 bhp rear-wheel-drive version.
Sport gets 19-inch 5 V Spoke Aero alloys in a black gloss turned finish, LED headlights, cloth upholstery, leatherette door armrests, heated front seats and MMI Navigation Plus on a 12.8-inch curved touchscreen. A panoramic roof, heat pump, heated steering wheel and retractable towbar are all available as options.
S Line moves up to 20-inch 5 V Spoke alloys in graphite grey gloss turned finish, adds leather upholstery, a three-spoke flat-top-and-bottom leather multifunction steering wheel, privacy glass and sports suspension. The same options list applies, including the heat pump and panoramic roof. Worth noting: bigger wheels firm up the ride.
Black Edition swaps in 20-inch 5 Arm Aero Audi Sport alloys in a black metallic finish, with part-leather upholstery. It also brings comfort kit as standard: heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, an electrically adjustable driver's seat and electric seat memory. Panoramic roof, heat pump and towbar remain optional.
Vorsprung is the fully loaded one: 21-inch 6 Twin Spoke alloys, an opening panoramic sunroof as standard, matrix LED headlights, head-up display, 360-degree surround view camera, park assist pro with remote and trained parking, adaptive cruise assist with emergency assist, and lane-keep assist.
A Tech Pack adding a head-up display can be specified as an option on the Q4 Sportback. Which trims and packs are available changes with what funders have on offer, so check the current Sportback deals.
If the Sportback shape appeals but you want to shop around, the Volkswagen ID.5 covers much the same ground with a different badge, and the Polestar 4 Coupe takes the style-led electric approach further. More options sit on our Audi leasing pages.
