View dealThe Suzuki E Vitara is a five-seat electric SUV, 4.28 metres long, and Suzuki's electric take on a name that has been carrying families and towbars around since the late 1980s. If you want a compact, high-riding EV that's easy to place on a narrow street, it earns a look.
It sits alongside Suzuki's petrol and hybrid SUVs as the brand's battery-electric offering, and the range is refreshingly simple. One body, one powertrain family, two trims.
So the choice comes down to this: a 49-61 kWh battery with 142-181 bhp, front- or all-wheel drive, and either Motion or Ultra trim. Everything below explains what those differences mean day to day.

The E Vitara is a five-seat, five-door electric SUV. It's a small car with genuine SUV intent, including an all-wheel-drive option that few rivals this size offer.
Reviewers consistently praise the upright driving position, the forward visibility and the decision to keep physical buttons for climate and volume rather than burying everything in the touchscreen. The ride is generally judged comfortable, and the 10.4-metre turning circle helps in town.
Criticism is fairly consistent too: the infotainment software is slow, and cabin materials are durable rather than plush. Boot space is 306-310 litres with the rear seats up, or 562 litres folded, which is modest for the class. Warranty cover is three years or 60,000 miles.
Because the standard kit list is generous and the same safety equipment appears on every version, so you don't have to spend up the range to get the important things. On a lease, that matters more than it does on a purchase.
Every E Vitara has adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, autonomous emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. LED headlights, privacy glass, rain-sensing wipers and an electric parking brake are standard too.
A heat pump is fitted across the range, which helps protect range in cold weather - worth having on a car you'll keep through three or four British winters. Euro NCAP awarded four stars, with 77% for adult occupant protection and 85% for child occupant protection.
There's one powertrain family here: battery-electric, automatic, with no petrol version. The decision you're actually making is battery size and whether you want front- or all-wheel drive.
A 49-61 kWh battery, 142-181 bhp and a WLTP range of up to 264 miles on the best version. Charging runs at up to 150 kW, giving 10-80% in 45 minutes on the best version, or 10-100% in 4.5 hours at 11 kW at home. Front- or all-wheel drive; efficiency 3.7-4.2 miles per kWh.
All-wheel drive suits anyone on rural lanes or steep, unmade driveways. If you mostly do school runs and commuting with a home charger, front-wheel drive is the sensible pick. Our electric car guide covers the basics if this is your first EV.

Two trims: Motion and Ultra. Motion covers the equipment most people actually use, and Ultra adds comfort and camera kit rather than changing the car's character. Neither is stripped out.
Motion brings 18-inch alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, the navigation system, wireless smartphone display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear parking camera and automatic high beam. The entry version has 142 bhp and front-wheel drive.
The Motion is currently available from £275.96 a month.
Ultra moves to 19-inch alloy wheels and fabric/synthetic leather upholstery, and adds a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera and Premium Infinity by Harman speakers. Its entry version has 172 bhp and front-wheel drive.
The Ultra is currently available from £308.72 a month. Against the Motion, that is currently £32.76/mo more expensive.
If you're weighing up other electric SUVs at this size and above, the Leapmotor C10, OMODA 5, Ford Explorer and Volkswagen ID.4 are all worth a look, as is the wider Suzuki range.
