Renault Symbioz Lease Deals

The Renault Symbioz is a five-seat family SUV sold in one body style with a choice of 1.3-litre petrol or self-charging hybrid power and three trims. This page explains who it suits, how the powertrains differ and what each trim adds.

The Renault Symbioz is a five-seat family SUV, 4.41 metres long, built around the sort of everyday practicality most households actually need rather than outright size. It sits between Renault's smaller crossovers and its larger family SUVs, and it's aimed squarely at people who want low running costs and a lot of standard technology.

The choice is refreshingly simple. One body style, two powertrains - a 1.3-litre petrol with a manual gearbox, or a self-charging hybrid that never needs plugging in - and three trims: Techno, Techno Esprit Alpine and Iconic Esprit Alpine.

If you want a compact-ish SUV that's easy to place on a narrow road, carries a 434-litre boot with the rear seats up and comes with adaptive cruise control and built-in navigation on every version, the Symbioz deserves a look. FVL has arranged leases across Renault's range for over 25 years, and this is one of the more straightforward line-ups to choose from.

About the Renault Symbioz

The Symbioz is Renault's rational family SUV: five seats, five doors, a 434-litre boot with the rear seats up and 1,498 litres with them folded, backed by a 2-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty. It's been on sale in this form since 2024.

Reviewers consistently describe it as comfortable, efficient and well equipped, with praise reserved for the Google-based infotainment and the real-world fuel economy of the hybrid. The common criticism is refinement: press the accelerator hard and the engine makes itself heard.

It's also honest about what it isn't. Euro NCAP awarded it 4 stars rather than 5, with 73% for adult occupant protection and 80% for child occupant protection.

Why lease a Renault Symbioz?

Because the standard specification is strong enough that you don't need to chase options. Every Symbioz, whatever the trim or powertrain, gets adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The safety and assistance kit is equally consistent: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, and parking sensors front and rear. LED headlights, air conditioning, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding mirrors and an electric parking brake are also standard across the range.

On the practical side, it's 1.80 m wide (2.00 m with the mirrors out) and turns in around 11 metres, so multi-storey car parks aren't a fight. Braked towing runs up to 1,200 kg depending on the version, and a tyre repair kit is supplied rather than a spare wheel - worth knowing before you order.

Which Symbioz powertrain is right for me?

There are two: a 1.3-litre petrol with a manual gearbox, and a self-charging hybrid. Neither needs a charging cable, and both drive the front wheels with a WLTP figure of 47.9 mpg.

Petrol

The 1.3-litre, four-cylinder petrol produces 138 bhp through a six-speed manual and covers 0-62 mph in 11.2 seconds. It's the version to pick if you prefer a conventional car with three pedals, and it's rated to tow up to 1,200 kg braked. Insurance group 16.

Hybrid (self-charging)

The self-charging hybrid pairs its engine with a 1.4 kWh battery that recharges as you drive - no plug, no charging routine. Power runs from 138 to 158 bhp, 0-62 mph takes 9.1 to 11.2 seconds depending on version, and manual or automatic is offered. It suits town and school-run driving best, where it runs on electricity often.

Which Symbioz trim should I choose?

Three trims, and the jump between them is about comfort and cameras rather than power. All three share the same core technology, so nobody is short-changed on the basics.

Techno

Techno rides on 18-inch "Gravity" alloy wheels with cloth upholstery, and adds a rear-view camera, a synthetic leather steering wheel, wi-fi smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice control for the navigation with built-in Google assistant. Entry versions have 138 bhp and front-wheel drive.

The Techno is currently available from £237.58 a month.

Techno Esprit Alpine

This one moves to 19-inch "Elixir" alloy wheels and adds heated front seats, a heated synthetic leather steering wheel, manual lumbar adjustment for the front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, a powered tailgate, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Cloth upholstery again, and 138 bhp on entry versions.

The Techno Esprit Alpine is currently available from £251.28 a month. Against the Techno, that is currently £13.70/mo more expensive.

Iconic Esprit Alpine

Iconic Esprit Alpine keeps the 19-inch "Elixir" wheels and adds the Solarbay opacifying panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree around-view 3D camera and self-steering parking. Entry versions here have 158 bhp. If you park in tight city spaces regularly, that camera earns its keep.

The Iconic Esprit Alpine is currently available from £298.42 a month. Against the Techno Esprit Alpine, that is currently £47.14/mo more expensive.

Choosing between them is mostly about how you use the car. Our guide to choosing your car lease covers how trim, mileage and term interact on a contract.

Renault Symbioz FAQs

No. It's a self-charging hybrid, so the 1.4 kWh battery is topped up by the engine and by braking as you drive. There's no cable, no home charger and no charging routine to plan around - you just fill it with petrol.

For most families, yes. It has five seats, five doors and a 434-litre boot with the rear seats up, plus rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera on every trim. Euro NCAP scored child occupant protection at 80%. Taller teenagers may find rear legroom tight.

434 litres with the rear seats up, rising to 1,498 litres with them folded. Roof load is 80 kg if you're adding bars and a box. The car is 4.41 m long and 1.58 m tall, so it should fit a standard garage without drama.

Yes, up to 1,200 kg braked on the best version - the petrol carries that figure, while hybrid versions are rated between 1,000 and 1,200 kg. Unbraked towing is 675 to 730 kg. Check the towing rating on the specific version before you order, and tell us if you need a towbar fitted.

Renault covers it for 2 years or 100,000 miles, with a 3-year paintwork guarantee and a 12-year anti-corrosion guarantee. On a typical lease term that warranty sits comfortably alongside the contract, though servicing remains your responsibility unless maintenance is added.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time, and the order can change when pricing is refreshed. The entry Techno is currently from £237.58 a month, but the only reliable answer is the live list - see the current Renault Symbioz deals below.
