The Polestar 3 is a five-seat electric SUV with a 92-106 kWh battery, 328-671 bhp and up to 394 miles of WLTP range, in Prime and Performance Prime forms. This page explains what the car is like, what comes as standard and how to choose between the two versions before you look at the live lease deals.
The Polestar 3 is a five-seat electric SUV. It's aimed at drivers who want a premium, quiet family car with long range, and who'd rather not drive something with a German badge on the nose.
There's one body style, one powertrain family and two versions to pick between: Prime and Performance Prime. Battery sizes run from 92 to 106 kWh, power from 328 to 671 bhp, and WLTP range reaches up to 394 miles on the best version.
Everything is automatic, and you can have rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on the version you choose. The rest of this page covers what the 3 is like to live with and which version fits which driver.

The 3 is Polestar's flagship: a 4.90 m long, five-seat electric SUV with a low, almost estate-like roofline that disguises its size. It sits above the brand's smaller models.
Reviewers consistently praise how it looks, how calm and refined it is at motorway speed, and how composed it feels through corners for something this heavy. The common criticism is the touchscreen-led control layout - a lot of functions live in menus, so it's worth a proper sit-down before you order.
Practicality is good rather than enormous: 484 litres of boot space with the seats up, five seats, and a fixed panoramic glass roof that brightens the cabin. Polestar covers it with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty.
Because the standard kit list is genuinely full, so you aren't forced up the range to get the equipment you actually want. Every 3 has adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, three-zone climate control and a heat pump.
Heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, electric seat memory, a hands-free tailgate and wireless phone charging are standard too, as is built-in navigation with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
On safety, the 3 holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating, scoring 90% for adult occupant protection and 93% for child occupant protection. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition and autonomous emergency braking are fitted across the range.
Servicing is every 24 months or 18,600 miles, which suits leasing terms neatly, and the battery carries its own eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity.
There's only one: the 3 is fully electric, so every version plugs in and none of them uses petrol or diesel. The question is really how much power and which driven wheels you want.
A 92-106 kWh battery gives up to 394 miles of WLTP range on the best version, with 328-671 bhp, rear- or all-wheel drive and a single-speed automatic. Rapid charging covers 10-80% in 22 minutes at 350 kW on the best version; a home wallbox takes around 10 hours at 11 kW. Our electric car guide explains the jargon.

Two choices: Prime for range and everyday sense, Performance Prime if you want the fastest version.
Prime starts at 328 bhp with rear-wheel drive, on 20-inch "Aero" alloy wheels with cloth upholstery. Standard kit includes navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, a black Polestar logo in the panoramic roof and a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with active road noise cancellation and headrest speakers. Matrix LED headlights and a retractable towbar are options.
The Prime is currently available from £650.15 a month.
Then there's the performance version. Performance Prime pairs 671 bhp with all-wheel drive and air suspension, riding on 22-inch Performance alloy wheels over the Prime's 20s - the quickest 3 in the range, at 3.9 seconds to 62 mph. Matrix LED headlights and a retractable towbar remain optional.
The Performance Prime is currently available from £761.87 a month. Against the Prime, that is currently £111.72/mo more expensive.
If you're weighing up the 3 against other electric SUVs, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, CUPRA Tavascan, Genesis GV60 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N are all worth a look, alongside the rest of the Polestar range.
