View dealThe Polestar 4 is a five-seat electric SUV with a low, coupe-like roofline, sitting between the Polestar 2 and the larger Polestar 3 in the range. It's the option for drivers who want a premium electric family car that looks like nothing else on the school run.
There's one body style, one battery and one kind of drivetrain: a 100 kWh electric setup producing between 268 and 537 bhp, rear- or all-wheel drive, always automatic, with a WLTP range of up to 391 miles.
The choice is simple enough. Two everyday trims, Business and Prime, then the 537 bhp Performance Prime if you want the quick one.

The 4 is Polestar's mid-sized electric coupe-SUV: five seats, a 530-litre boot, 4.84 metres long, and a three-year or 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty behind it. Its defining feature is the coupe-like profile and generous cabin space for the segment.
Reviewers consistently praise the cabin for space, quietness and material quality, and note that the long 3.00-metre wheelbase gives rear passengers unusually good legroom for a car with this roofline. The common criticisms are the touchscreen-heavy controls and the digital mirror, which some testers adapt to quickly and others never quite do.
Range gets steady praise too, with real-world figures reported as honest rather than optimistic.
Because the 4 arrives well equipped whichever version you pick, so the specification decision is about comfort rather than filling gaps. Every 4 has adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, a fixed panoramic glass roof, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
Driver assistance is standard across the range: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors and self-steering parking. There's also a heat pump, which helps preserve range in cold weather - worth having on a British winter commute.
Practically, you get a 530-litre boot with the rear seats up, 1,665 litres folded, a powered tailgate and braked towing up to 2,000 kg.
There's only one answer here: the 4 is electric only, with a 100 kWh battery in every version. What changes is how much power you take and whether you want rear- or all-wheel drive.
The 100 kWh battery (94.0 kWh usable) gives 268 to 537 bhp depending on version, and a WLTP range of up to 391 miles. It charges at up to 200 kW, so 10-80% takes around 30 minutes on the fastest version, or 11 hours from empty on an 11 kW home charger. You'll need somewhere to plug in regularly.

Business covers the essentials generously, Prime adds the comfort and display kit most people notice daily, and Performance Prime is about pace rather than equipment.
The entry version: 268 bhp, rear-wheel drive, 20-inch "Aero" alloy wheels and cloth upholstery. It includes LED headlights, wireless Apple CarPlay, the panoramic glass roof with Polestar logo, a leather multifunction steering wheel that's heated, plus a rear-view camera and dual-zone climate control. The Business is currently available from £588.64 a month.
Prime keeps the 268 bhp rear-wheel-drive setup and the 20-inch "Aero" wheels, and adds Pixel LED headlights and a 14.7-inch head-up display, along with heated rear seats, a hands-free tailgate and three-zone climate control. Massaging and ventilated front seats are available as options. The Prime is currently available from £629.32 a month. Against the Business, that is currently £40.68/mo more expensive.
Then the quick one. Performance Prime takes Prime's kit and swaps in 537 bhp, all-wheel drive and 22-inch "Performance" alloy wheels, dropping 0-62 mph to 3.8 seconds. Massaging and ventilated front seats remain optional. The Performance Prime is currently available from £715.67 a month. Against the Prime, that is currently £86.35/mo more expensive.
