View dealThe Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the performance version of Hyundai's electric family SUV: 641bhp, all-wheel drive, 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and a WLTP range of up to 278 miles. It sits at the top of Hyundai's electric line-up, above the standard Ioniq 5.
It suits someone who wants a genuinely fast car but still needs five seats, a 480-litre boot and the school run to happen without drama. Road testers are near-unanimous that it's the most entertaining electric car this side of six-figure machinery.
The range itself is simple. One body style, one powertrain, one trim called Ioniq 5 N, plus the Vision Roof Pack as an option, so most of your decisions are about colour, contract length and mileage rather than specification.

The Ioniq 5 N is Hyundai's N performance division applied to its retro-styled electric SUV: 641bhp with 740Nm, all in a 4.72m five-seat body with a 480-litre boot.
N earned its reputation with petrol hot hatchbacks, and reviewers consistently say the character survived the switch to electric. The simulated gearshifts and synthesised engine noise get most of the attention, but testers are clear the handling stands up with the theatre switched off.
The criticisms are consistent too: it's heavy, there's a lot of technology to learn, and hard driving eats range quickly. Against that, every Ioniq 5 N comes with Hyundai's five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty and a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Because you get one specification with almost nothing left to add. Navigation, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, adaptive suspension, launch control, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel are all standard, as is a heat pump to protect range in winter.
Driver assistance is thorough: adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep and active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition, autonomous emergency braking, self-steering parking and front and rear sensors. Euro NCAP scored it 88% for adult occupant protection and 88% for safety assist.
Practically, it's a five-door SUV with 480 litres behind the rear seats and 1,540 litres folded, a hands-free tailgate and wireless charging. Leasing also keeps you inside the warranty period for the whole contract, which matters on a car with 21-inch wheels and this much performance.
There's one: a fully electric, all-wheel-drive setup with an 84kWh battery and 641bhp. No petrol version exists, so charging is part of life with this car, and the automatic drivetrain means there's no manual option.
Automatic, all-wheel drive, with a WLTP range of up to 278 miles and 2.9 miles per kWh. Rapid charging takes 10-80% in 18 minutes at 350kW on the best version; a 10.5kW home or workplace supply does 10-100% in 7.6 hours. Expect less than 278 miles if you use the performance.
