Reviewers consistently praise how alert these cars feel through corners and how well finished the cabins are, and just as consistently point out the firm ride that comes with it. That trade-off is the brand in a sentence.

Choosing between them comes down to size and power source. The MINI Countryman is the largest of the three: a five-seat SUV offered with petrol or electric power, rated to tow up to 2,000 kg braked, with a boot of 450 to 505 litres depending on version. The two hatchbacks work down from there.

Electrification runs right through the range. All three models we price are available as electric cars, two of them are also offered with petrol engines, and the smallest of the three is the Cooper while the largest is the Countryman. That is a narrower spread than most brands offer, which makes choosing simpler than it looks.

The MINI range we lease

Three MINI models sit in our prices: the Countryman SUV, and the Aceman and Cooper hatchbacks. Between them they cover petrol and electric power, four or five seats, and boots from 160 litres up to 505 litres.

SUV

The MINI Countryman is the practical one, and the only MINI here built to tow properly - up to 2,000 kg braked. It seats five, offers 450 to 505 litres of boot space depending on version, measures about 4.44 m long and comes in petrol or electric form across 14 trims. Deals start from £340.64 a month.

Hatchback

The MINI Aceman is the electric-only MINI. At 4.08 m long with five seats, a 300-litre boot and braked towing up to 750 kg, it suits a driver who wants rear doors and a raised, chunkier look without stepping up to an SUV. Nine trims. Deals start from £321.10 a month.

The MINI Cooper is the small, sharp one - about 3.86 m long, with four or five seats and a boot of 160 to 275 litres depending on version. Petrol or electric, 20 trims, and three body styles you can explore on its own page. Deals start from £305.04 a month.

Electric and hybrid MINI models

Every model we price can be leased as an electric car. The Aceman is electric only, while the Cooper and Countryman each offer a choice of petrol or electric power, so you can pick the body first and the powertrain second.

On the electric and hybrid models the battery is covered by an 8-year / 100,000-mile warranty, alongside the three-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty that applies across the range.

Which one you want depends on the journeys. The Countryman is the electric MINI for people carrying five and towing; the Aceman gives you five seats and a 300-litre boot in a 4.08 m footprint; the Cooper keeps things smallest at around 3.86 m. Why lease a MINI?

Leasing gives you a brand-new MINI on a fixed monthly rental for an agreed term and mileage, with road tax included and the vehicle handed back at the end. The three-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty covers most typical lease terms without a mileage cap to watch.

The Cooper makes the case neatly. With 20 trims and three body styles, it's a car people specify to taste - and leasing means you can commit to a colour, a trim and a powertrain for three or four years rather than for good.

Servicing and maintenance can be bundled into the rental if you'd rather budget for it monthly, and on the electric models the 8-year / 100,000-mile battery warranty sits well beyond the length of a normal contract. Which MINI should you choose?

For family duty, the Countryman is the obvious answer: five seats, 450 to 505 litres of luggage space and a 4.44 m body. It's also the one that tows, rated up to 2,000 kg braked, where the Aceman manages 750 kg.

Want electric without a petrol option to agonise over? That's the Aceman - five seats, a 300-litre boot, 4.08 m long. If you'd rather choose the shape first, the Cooper and Countryman both come in petrol or electric.
