The Mercedes GLC Coupe is an excellent offering that will impress. Indeed, it's just as impressive as the standard GLC with this model being more stylish with an upmarket interior.

Engines and performance for the Mercedes GLC-Coupe

Unveiled in 2019, the Mercedes GLC Coupe offered new engines with plans for more being added to the future line-up. The petrol engines have a mild hybrid system, Mercedes calls it the 'EQ Boost', which help deliver more power and boost economy. The new 2.0 litre diesel unit is a decent turbocharged performer, producing 191 bhp and there's another engine producing 242 bhp. Economy is around 41 mpg. All of the models have four-wheel drive and the engines are mated to an automatic gearbox which has a smooth operation to deliver the power effectively.

Equipment and handling

The Mercedes GLC Coupe is certainly a striking looking car as an SUV with a sloping roofline. There is still plenty of space onboard and to help counter the restricted rear view, the GLC Coupe comes with a state of the art driving assistance system, including a parking assistant and parking sensors and a rear view camera. However, the big advantage for the coupe is that it offers a sportier performance than its standard sibling with the suspension delivering a comfortable ride. The permanent 4x4 system delivers grip on a range of surfaces and it's a comfortable car for long motorway journeys with good steering feedback and strong engines showing what they can do. Another notable difference is the interior and while it's still a premium offering, there are more brushed metal surfaces and soft plastics to create a sportier environment. The technology includes a new 5.5-inch screen for the instrument binnacle, which can be controlled from the steering wheel, and there's a 10.25-inch infotainment screen to enjoy. To help keep a driver's attention focused on the road, the 'Hey Mercedes' voice activation system is a useful offering. The equipment levels are impressive and the AMG-badged versions offer more equipment and more power. Essentially, the Mercedes GLC Coupe is an excellent offering for those who want a stylish and practical SUV with a lot of equipment and a stylish interior and which also has impeccable on-road manners.
