View dealThe Mercedes-Benz GLB is a seven-seat family SUV, and that is the whole point of it. It's about 4.73 m long, so it parks like a normal mid-size car, yet it carries three rows of seats and a 480-litre boot with the rear seats up.
In the Mercedes-Benz line-up it sits between the smaller GLA and the larger GLC, and it's the one that offers seven seats. The current GLB is the second-generation car, on sale in this form since 2026.
The choice is simple enough: one SUV body, two powertrains - a 1.5-litre turbo petrol or an 85 kWh electric - and six trims, from Sport up to AMG Line Premium plus.

The GLB is the practical, square-shouldered member of Mercedes-Benz's smaller SUV family: seven seats as standard, a 480-litre boot behind the second row and 1,605 litres with the rear seats folded, backed by a three-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty.
Reviewers consistently praise the amount of usable space for the footprint, the calm ride and the quiet cruising manners, and they rate the electric version highly for its range and charging speed. The common criticism is interior design and material quality low down in the cabin, which divides opinion.
Road testers also make the point that the third row suits children and shorter adults rather than six-footers on a long trip - genuinely useful, but occasional seats.
Because you get a lot of standard kit and a fixed monthly cost for a car that would otherwise be an expensive thing to own. Every GLB has seven seats, a fixed panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, keyless entry and start, built-in navigation and a digital instrument cluster.
Driver assistance is thorough across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors and adaptive suspension are fitted to every version.
On the practical side, braked towing runs from 1,600 kg on petrol versions up to 2,000 kg on the strongest, and servicing falls due every 24 months or 18,650 miles. Worth checking your annual mileage against that before you set contract terms - our guide to choosing mileage, term and spec is a sensible starting point.
Two choices: a 1.5-litre turbo petrol if you'd rather not think about charging, or the 85 kWh electric if you can charge at home or at work. Both are automatic, and both offer all-wheel drive.
The 1.5-litre turbo produces between 134 bhp and 187 bhp through an eight-speed automatic, with front- or all-wheel drive depending on version. WLTP economy is 43.5-47.9 mpg and braked towing reaches 2,000 kg on the strongest versions - the choice if your mileage is high and unpredictable.
The electric GLB uses an 85 kWh battery with 268-349 bhp, rear- or all-wheel drive, and WLTP range of up to 380 miles. The best version rapid-charges from 10-80% in 22 minutes at 320 kW, or fully charges in nine hours on an 11 kW home supply. Our electric car guide covers the basics.

Six trims, and the honest answer is that Sport already covers the essentials - the rest is about comfort, cabin tech and wheels.
Sport gives you MBUX navigation, the fixed panoramic sunroof, Artico man upholstery, heated front seats and MB Drive parking assist with reversing camera and front and rear sensors. It runs 18-inch "5 Spoike" alloys, part-leather trim, climate control and roof rails, with a fixed towbar available as an option. The Sport is currently available from £589.13 a month.

The Sport Executive is currently available from £611.46 a month. Against the Sport, that is currently £22.33/mo more expensive.
This one is mainly about appearance rather than extra equipment: AMG Line styling, Artico man trim, front sports seats and 19-inch "5 Spoke" alloys. The AMG Line Executive is currently available from £637.15 a month. Against the Sport Executive, that is currently £25.69/mo more expensive.
AMG Line adds electrically adjustable front memory seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat and dual-zone climate control, and moves up to 20-inch "Cross Spoke" alloys. The AMG Line is currently available from £685.38 a month. Against the AMG Line Executive, that is currently £48.23/mo more expensive.

The AMG Line Premium is currently available from £744.74 a month.

The AMG Line Premium plus is currently available from £783.50 a month. Against the AMG Line Premium, that is currently £38.76/mo more expensive.
If the GLB isn't quite it, the BMW X1 and Audi Q4 cover similar premium SUV ground, while the CUPRA Tavascan and CUPRA Formentor take a sharper-looking route. More options sit on our Mercedes-Benz leasing page.
