Check my eligibility

The Mercedes-Benz CLA Estate is the practical body style of the smallest car Mercedes-Benz makes: five seats, five doors, a boot of 455 to 505 litres depending on version, and a roofline that stays rakish rather than boxy. It suits drivers who want a compact premium car with a proper tailgate and folding seats, but don't want an SUV.

It suits drivers who want a compact premium car with a proper tailgate and folding seats, but don't want an SUV. Company car drivers get an electric option with up to 469 miles of WLTP range on the best version; families and dog owners get up to 1,370 litres with the rear seats folded.

The choice on this page comes down to three things: petrol or electric, everyday trim or an AMG performance version, and how much screen and driver-assistance kit you want. We'll take them in that order.

About the Mercedes-Benz CLA Estate

The current CLA Estate, on sale in this form since 2026, is a compact five-seat estate built around a technology-led cabin and, in electric form, a genuinely long-legged battery. It's the load-lugging member of the CLA family rather than an out-and-out load-lugger.

Reviewers consistently praise the electric versions for range and charging speed, and the ride and handling balance for being settled without feeling soft. The common criticism is space: rear seat room is tight for taller adults, and boxier estates swallow more.

Every CLA Estate comes with a three-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty, and the CLA holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating with 94% for adult occupant protection.

CLA Estate or CLA Coupe or CLA Saloon?

The Estate is the one to pick if you carry things. Its boot runs from 455 litres with the rear seats up on the best-equipped versions to 505 litres on some petrol versions, against 405 litres in the CLA Saloon and 445 to 460 litres in the four-door CLA Coupe.

All three seat five. The Estate ties for tallest at up to 1.47 m, which is where the extra rear headroom comes from, and it tows the most: up to 2,400 kg braked, against up to 2,000 kg for the Saloon and up to 1,800 kg for the Coupe. If you'd rather see everything side by side, the full Mercedes-Benz CLA range is on one page.

Why lease a Mercedes-Benz CLA Estate?

Because the standard kit list is unusually complete for a compact premium car, and a lease keeps you inside the three-year warranty period. Every version and trim gets heated front seats, keyless entry and start, built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus adaptive suspension and LED headlights.

Safety and assistance are standard across the board too: blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, automatic high beam and autonomous emergency braking. Euro NCAP scored the CLA 89% for child occupant protection and 93% for vulnerable road users.

On practicality, the seats fold to free up 1,290 to 1,370 litres depending on version, roof rails are standard on Sport, and a towbar is available as an option on most trims - fixed on the everyday petrol trims, retractable on AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Premium Plus. Worth flagging before you order: the spare is a tyre repair kit, not a wheel.

Which CLA Estate powertrain is right for me?

Two choices: petrol or electric, both automatic.

Petrol

A 1.5 or 2.0-litre four-cylinder with an eight-speed gearbox, from 134 to 415 bhp, front- or all-wheel drive. Nothing to plug in, WLTP economy of 31.0 to 55.4 mpg depending on version, and the largest boots in the range at up to 505 litres. The sensible pick if your mileage is unpredictable.

Electric

A 58 to 85 kWh battery, 221 to 349 bhp, rear- or all-wheel drive, with WLTP range up to 469 miles on the best version. The quickest-charging versions manage 10-80% in 22 minutes at 320 kW, or a full charge in 6.5 hours at 11 kW at home. Best if you can charge where you park.

Which CLA Estate trim should I choose?

Six everyday trims and two AMG performance versions, and the split between petrol and electric matters as much as the badge.

Sport

The entry point, with a 134 bhp petrol engine and front-wheel drive. It brings 18-inch aerodynamically optimised alloys in a 5 Twin Spoke design, part leather upholstery, MBUX navigation with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fixed panoramic glass roof, a leather multifunction sports steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, climate control, front and rear parking sensors and roof rails.

Sport Executive

Adds Artico artificial leather upholstery, wireless phone charging in the front centre console, a rear centre armrest with stowage and ambient lighting. Wheels move to an 18-inch 5 Spoke alloy. A fixed towbar is available as an option, as it is on Sport.

AMG Line Executive

Adds a rear-view camera and front sports seats over Sport Executive, on 18-inch AMG 5 Spoke alloys. Still the 134 bhp petrol with front-wheel drive as the entry version. A fixed towbar remains an option.

AMG Line

The step up is mostly screen and convenience: the 14-inch MBUX Superscreen front passenger display with touch controls, plus an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory, a hands-free tailgate and dual-zone climate control. Wheels grow to 19-inch AMG 5 Twin Spoke alloys.

AMG Line Premium

This is where the Electric range starts, with a 221 bhp rear-wheel-drive version. Compared with Sport it adds the large fixed panoramic glass sunroof, reversing camera, the drive parking assist pack with self-steering parking, wireless charging and the 14-inch passenger display, along with a heat pump, rear cross-traffic alert, privacy glass and paddle shifters. A retractable towbar is optional.

AMG Line Premium Plus

Adds multibeam LED headlamps with adaptive highbeam assist plus, a 360-degree camera version of the parking pack, a head-up display and a heated steering wheel. Wheels are 19-inch AMG Multi Spoke alloys, and the entry version is again the 221 bhp rear-wheel-drive Electric.

Then come the two AMG performance versions, both petrol and both all-wheel drive.

AMG

A 302 bhp petrol with all-wheel drive. Over AMG Line it adds MBUX augmented reality navigation, an AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather, the keyless go comfort pack, privacy glass with dark tinting, a heated steering wheel, traffic sign recognition and paddle shifters, on 19-inch AMG 5 Twin Spoke alloys.

AMG S

The 415 bhp version, with 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds for the quickest CLA Estate. It adds multibeam LED headlamps, a nappa leather and microcut microfibre AMG Performance steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, head-up display, an opening panoramic roof and massaging front seats, on 19-inch AMG Cross Spoke alloys. Deals for the AMG versions come and go, so ask our team what's available.

Similar cars to consider

If you're weighing up alternatives, the Audi A5 and BMW 3 Series cover similar premium ground, the Volvo V60 is the squarer, more traditional estate, and the BMW 2 Series sits a size below. More from the brand is on our Mercedes-Benz leasing page.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Estate FAQs

It holds 455 to 505 litres with the rear seats up, depending on version, and 1,290 to 1,370 litres with them folded. Electric versions are quoted at 455 litres seats up. That's more than the CLA Saloon's 405 litres, though boxier estates hold more.

For a family of four, yes. It seats five, scored 89% for child occupant protection in its five-star Euro NCAP test, and every version has autonomous emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring. The caveat is rear space: road testers find the back seats tight for taller adults, so sit in it before you commit.

Up to 469 miles on the WLTP test for the best version, with the range starting at 299 miles on the 58 kWh battery. Official efficiency is 4.3 to 4.8 miles per kWh. Real-world figures depend on speed, weather and wheel size, as with any electric car.

Yes. Braked towing runs from 1,500 kg up to 2,400 kg depending on version, with 750 kg unbraked. Petrol versions are rated at 1,500 to 2,000 kg braked. A fixed towbar is a factory option on the petrol trims and a retractable one on AMG Line Premium and Premium Plus, so it has to be specified at order.

Three years with unlimited mileage, which covers a typical lease term from new. Electric versions add an eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity. Servicing falls due every 12 to 24 months or 12,500 to 18,650 miles depending on version and use.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time, and it isn't always the entry trim - rentals move as offers are refreshed. The current CLA Estate deals below this page are for the Estate body only. If you're not sure how term and mileage change the figure, our guide to choosing your car is a good starting point, or ask our team.
