The Lotus Emira is a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive petrol coupe built at Hethel, offered with 360-400bhp and automatic or manual gearboxes. This page explains the powertrain and trim choices, from the Emira entry model up to SE Racing Line, so you can pick the right version before you lease.

View dealThe Lotus Emira is a two-seat petrol coupe, and it's the sports car that anchors Lotus's range alongside the brand's larger electric models. If you want a car that talks back to you through the steering wheel rather than through a screen, this is the shortlist it belongs on.
There's one body style, one fuel type and a choice that comes down to power and character: petrol engines of 360 to 400bhp, automatic or manual, driving the rear wheels. Trims run from the Emira entry model through Turbo SE, Turbo SE Racing Line, SE and SE Racing Line.
It seats two, weighs between 1,455kg and 1,500kg depending on version, and measures 4.41m long. That's roughly the footprint of a family hatchback, wrapped in a shape that looks like it costs three times what it does.

The Emira is Lotus's petrol sports car: two seats, rear-wheel drive, engines from 360 to 400bhp, and a 3-year unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty behind it. It is the most usable road car the company has built in years without losing the handling reputation the name carries.
Reviewers consistently praise the hydraulically assisted steering and the way the chassis flows down a British B-road, and they're equally consistent that this is a heavier, more grown-up Lotus than the Elise and Exige that came before it. Criticism tends to land on price and on the firmer suspension set-ups, which can feel busy around town.
Practicality is better than the shape suggests. There's a 359-litre boot with the seats up, climate control throughout, and the cabin quality is a genuine step on from older Lotus interiors.
Leasing suits a car like this because you're paying to use it for a fixed term rather than worrying about what a low-volume British sports car will be worth in three years. Every Emira also arrives well equipped, which matters when the options list is long.
Standard across the range: keyless entry and start, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, ambient lighting, front sports seats and an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory. Safety and assistance kit includes autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, and front and rear parking sensors.
Two practical notes we get asked about often: there's no spare wheel, just a tyre repair kit, and servicing falls every 12 months or 9,000 to 12,000 miles depending on version. Worth factoring in if a Lotus dealer isn't local to you.
There's one fuel choice here - petrol - but it covers a spread of engines, gearboxes and characters, so the version you pick changes the car more than the badge does.
Power runs from 360 to 400bhp, with 420 to 480Nm of torque, from engines of 2.0 to 3.5 litres and four or six cylinders. Gearboxes are 6 or 8-speed, automatic or manual, driving the rear wheels. Expect 0-62mph in 3.8 to 4.6 seconds and a top speed of up to 181mph, depending on version.
Economy is quoted at 24.7 to 30.7mpg on the WLTP test, with CO2 of 208 to 258g/km, so this is a car to lease with your eyes open on running costs. The 58-litre tank and a 10.9m turning circle tell you the rest. Nothing to plug in.
| Petrol | |
|---|---|
| Boot | 359 litres |

| Economy (WLTP) | 24.7–30.7 mpg |
All five trims give you the same two seats, the same 359-litre boot and 20-inch alloy wheels; what changes is power, cabin materials, screen size and a few driver aids.
The entry car is the 360bhp version, with 20-inch alloys, cloth upholstery, air conditioning and paddle shifters. LED headlamps, navigation mapping display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather interior door trim and front parking sensors are included. Adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a rear-view camera, rear cross-traffic alert and privacy glass are available as options.
Turbo SE steps up to 400bhp and adds a 10.25-inch touchscreen MMI over the entry car, along with sports suspension and launch control. Alcantara and leather replace the cloth, and the 20-inch alloys wear a V-spoke design.
The Turbo SE is currently available from £1,751.38 a month.
This one is about looks rather than extra equipment: it's a Racing Line take on the Turbo SE, with the same 400bhp, 20-inch alloys and Alcantara-and-leather cabin. The same options apply, including adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a rear-view camera and privacy glass.
The Turbo SE Racing Line is currently available from £1,798.40 a month. Against the Turbo SE, that is currently £47.03/mo more expensive.
The SE is the 400bhp car with cruise control added, plus 20-inch alloys and Alcantara and leather trim. Heated front seats, a rear-view camera, rear cross-traffic alert and privacy glass remain factory options.
The SE is currently available from £1,954.55 a month. Against the Turbo SE Racing Line, that is currently £156.14/mo more expensive.
An appearance-led version of the SE, keeping the 400bhp engine, 20-inch alloys and Alcantara and leather interior, with the same option list. Deals for this one come and go, so ask our team and we'll check what's around.
