The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a five-seat luxury SUV that sits between the Defender and the full-size Range Rover: quieter and plusher than the first, a little tighter and lower-slung than the second. It suits drivers who want genuine 4x4 credentials wrapped in a calm, expensive-feeling cabin.
There's one body style, so the real decisions are engine and trim. You choose between Petrol, Diesel and Plug-in hybrid power, all automatic and all-wheel drive, and then between eight everyday trims from S to Twenty Edition, plus two 626 bhp SV editions.
This is the current, third-generation Range Rover Sport, on sale in this form since 2026. Below, we've set out what each powertrain means day to day and what separates the trims, so you can match a version to how you'll actually use the car.

The Range Rover Sport is Land Rover's luxury performance SUV, built on the same underpinnings as the full-size Range Rover but pitched at drivers who do more of their own driving. It's about 4.95 m long and carries five people.
Reviewers consistently praise the ride comfort and the hush at motorway speeds, helped by adaptive suspension fitted to every version. The same testers are honest that, despite the name, it feels big and heavy on a twisty road, and that the touchscreen takes learning.
Practically, there's a 647-litre boot with the rear seats up, rising to 1,491 litres folded. Every version comes with Land Rover's three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty, and the car holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Because the standard kit list is deep enough that the entry car doesn't feel like an entry car, and because leasing lets you hold a car like this for a fixed term without worrying what it's worth afterwards. Every version is well equipped from the start.
Across the range you get a 360-degree camera, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a powered tailgate and adaptive suspension.
Safety kit is standard too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition and front and rear parking sensors. Euro NCAP scored the car 85% for adult occupant protection and 82% for safety assist.
Towing matters to a lot of Range Rover Sport customers. The Petrol and Diesel versions tow up to 3,500 kg braked; the Plug-in hybrid is rated at 3,000 kg.
Three choices: Diesel for long-distance mileage, Plug-in hybrid if you can charge regularly, Petrol if outright pace matters more than economy. All are automatic with all-wheel drive.
From 375 bhp up to 626 bhp, with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. WLTP economy runs 23.5-29.3 mpg, so this is the choice for pace and noise rather than running costs. The quickest versions reach 62 mph in 3.7 seconds.
A 3-litre six-cylinder with 246-345 bhp and 600-700 Nm, quoted at 38.1-39.5 mpg on the WLTP test. Nothing to plug in, strong pulling power for a caravan or trailer, and the sensible pick if you cover big motorway mileage.
A 3-litre turbo petrol paired with a 38.2 kWh battery, giving 454-543 bhp. It needs charging to make sense: the best version takes 0-80% in 40 minutes at 50 kW, or a full charge in five hours on a 22 kW supply. Braked towing is 3,000 kg.

Every trim shares the same cabin architecture and safety kit, so you're choosing wheels, lighting, roof, audio and a handful of comfort features.
The starting point, on 20-inch alloys in the Style 7020 design with leather upholstery, a fixed panoramic glass roof, air suspension, dual-zone climate, keyless entry, a heated leather steering wheel and the 3D 360-degree surround camera with wade sensing. Adaptive cruise and a head-up display are options. The S is currently available from £948.06 a month inc VAT.

Brings 23-inch gloss black alloys in the Style 5135 design, Pixel LED headlights with LED signature DRL, an opening panoramic roof with electric sunblind, extended leather, privacy glass and the Meridian sound system. The comfort-focused choice: park assist and a head-up display on top, plus massaging and ventilated front seats, hands-free tailgate, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting and 22-inch Style 5127 alloys. A retractable towbar is optional. The Autobiography is currently available from £1,221.94 a month inc VAT. Against the Stealth Edition, that is currently £130.84/mo cheaper (inc VAT). Best value
A Petrol-only edition starting at 530 bhp, on 23-inch Style 5135 alloys with four-wheel steering to sharpen low-speed manoeuvring. Over the S it adds an ebony suedecloth headlining, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, privacy glass, ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. The Twenty Edition is currently available from £1,564.97 a month inc VAT.
Then come the two SV versions, both 626 bhp petrol cars.
The full-fat one: 626 bhp, 23-inch Style 1084 alloys, digital LED headlights with signature DRL and image projection, a sliding panoramic roof with electric sunblind, the Meridian Signature sound system, park assist, head-up display and ambient lighting. The SV Ultimate Edition is currently available from £2,031.72 a month inc VAT. Against the Twenty Edition, that is currently £466.75/mo more expensive (inc VAT).
A collector's take on the SV Ultimate with the same 626 bhp and 23-inch Style 1084 wheels, distinguished by its cloth-trimmed interior treatment, electric seat memory and paddle shifters. The SV Celestial Edition is currently available from £2,634.22 a month inc VAT. Against the SV Ultimate Edition, that is currently £602.50/mo more expensive (inc VAT).
If you're weighing alternatives, the Audi Q8 and Audi Q7 offer a similar blend of size and luxury, while the Land Rover Defender and INEOS Grenadier lean harder on off-road ability. More from the brand sits on our Land Rover leasing page.
