The Chery Tiggo 9 is Chery's largest SUV: a seven-seat plug-in hybrid with 422bhp, all-wheel drive and a single, heavily equipped Summit trim. This guide explains who it suits, what comes as standard and what to check before you order.
The Chery Tiggo 9 is a seven-seat family SUV sold in the UK with one powertrain and one trim, which makes choosing one unusually simple. It's 4.81 metres long, and it sits above the Tiggo 8 as the brand's flagship.
It suits families who need occasional third-row seats, want a plug-in hybrid they can actually run on electricity for local trips, and would rather have a long standard-equipment list than a badge with history behind it.
The choice, then, is barely a choice: one SUV body, one plug-in hybrid, one trim called Summit. Pick a colour, pick your mileage and term, and you're done.

The Tiggo 9 is Chery's range-topping SUV: seven seats, a 1.5-litre turbo plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive, and a 7-year / 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty behind it. Reviewers consistently praise the equipment level and the hybrid system, and consistently mark it down for light steering and a soft, slightly floaty ride.
Road testers describe it as a calm motorway cruiser rather than an engaging drive, with a cabin that feels plusher than you'd expect from a brand this new to Britain. The third row is judged best for children on shorter journeys, which is normal in this class.
Boot space is 143 litres with all three rows in use, rising to 2,065 litres with the rear seats folded, so it's a genuine seven-seater or a genuine load-carrier, rarely both at once.
Because the spec question disappears. Every Tiggo 9 arrives with adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, an opening panoramic roof, massaging, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging and a powered tailgate as standard.
Driver assistance is equally complete across the range: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors and automatic parking assist.
Practically, it tows up to 1,500 kg braked (750 kg unbraked), carries 75 kg on the roof and turns in 11.2 metres. Servicing falls every 12 months or 10,000 miles, and the high-voltage battery has its own 8-year / 100,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity.
There's only one, so the real question is whether a plug-in hybrid fits how you drive. It does if you can charge at home or at work; it makes far less sense if you can't.
A 1.5-litre turbo petrol works with electric motors for 422bhp, 580Nm and all-wheel drive through an automatic gearbox - 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds, top speed 112mph. The 34.5 kWh battery takes 5.3 hours at 6.6 kW on the best version, or 30-80% in 25 minutes at 71 kW. Insurance group 44.

Summit is the only trim, and it's the fully loaded one, so your decision is really about colour, contract length and mileage.
Summit brings 20-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery and a leather steering wheel, online navigation with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a panoramic sunroof that tilts and slides with an electric blind. It also has a rear-view camera and climate control, on top of the 422bhp all-wheel-drive powertrain.
The Summit is currently available from £431.99 a month.
