MG MGS9 Lease Deals

The MG MGS9 is MG's seven-seat SUV, sold in one body style with a single 295bhp plug-in hybrid powertrain and a choice of Comfort or Premium trim. This page explains what the car offers, what each trim adds and how to pick the right version to lease.

The MG MGS9 is a seven-seat SUV, and it's the biggest, most family-focused car MG sells in the UK. At 4.98m long, it's aimed squarely at households who have outgrown a five-seater but don't want to spend large-SUV money.

The choice here is refreshingly simple. One body style, one powertrain - a 1.5-litre turbo plug-in hybrid with a 24.7 kWh battery and 295 bhp, driving the front wheels through an automatic gearbox - and two trims, Comfort and Premium.

So the real decision isn't which engine, it's how much equipment you want and how your household actually uses seven seats. We'll go through both below.

About the MG MGS9

The MGS9 is MG's first seven-seat SUV, and it takes the brand into territory usually occupied by considerably pricier family cars. Reviewers consistently praise the space, the level of standard kit and the smoothness of the plug-in hybrid system.

Road testers are less enthusiastic about the ride on the standard 20-inch wheels and the steering, which is light rather than communicative. Nobody buys a three-row SUV for entertainment, though.

The numbers back up the practicality argument: 332 litres of boot with all seven seats in use, 1,026 litres with the third row folded, a 2.92m wheelbase and braked towing of up to 2,000 kg. It carries a 7-year / 80,000-mile manufacturer warranty and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.

Why lease a MG MGS9?

Because the standard specification is unusually complete for a seven-seater, which matters more on a lease than on a purchase - you're choosing from what the factory fits, not adding kit later. Every MGS9 shares the same powertrain, so trim choice is the only real variable.

Every version gets adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition and autonomous emergency braking. Euro NCAP awarded five stars, with 84% for adult occupant protection and 85% for child occupant protection.

Comfort and convenience kit is shared too: a fixed panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory, keyless entry and start, a powered tailgate, climate control, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, privacy glass and roof rails.

One practical note from our team: the MGS9 sits in insurance group 44, so it's worth getting a quote before you order rather than after the car arrives.

Which MGS9 powertrain is right for me?

There's only one, so this part of the decision is made for you. Here's what it means day to day.

Plug-in hybrid

A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine works with a 24.7 kWh battery (23.2 kWh usable) for 295 bhp and 390 Nm, front-wheel drive, 0-62mph in 9.6 seconds. It charges at up to 7 kW, so a home wallbox or workplace point is the sensible way to run it - there's no rapid charging. Plug in regularly and short local journeys can be done on battery power; the petrol engine covers longer trips from a 65-litre tank.

It's automatic - a single-speed setup, so there's no gearchanging to think about. If you can't charge at home or at work, a plug-in hybrid is the wrong tool; our electric and hybrid leasing guides explain the difference before you commit to a contract.

Which MGS9 trim should I choose?

Two trims, Comfort and Premium, both with the same 295 bhp plug-in hybrid, front-wheel drive and 20-inch alloy wheels. The difference is seat materials, audio and a handful of comfort features.

Comfort

Comfort covers the essentials properly: 20-inch alloys, full auto LED headlights with auto high beam and follow-me-home, satellite navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a fixed panoramic glass roof with an electric blind. Upholstery is cloth, and you also get a hands-free tailgate, rear-view camera and power-folding door mirrors.

The Comfort is currently available from £325.72 a month.

Premium

Premium adds leather-style upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a smart tailgate and electrically adjustable power-folding heated door mirrors with tilt-down memory. It also brings massaging front seats, wireless phone charging, front fog lights and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

The Premium is currently available from £347.05 a month. Against the Comfort, that is currently £21.34/mo more expensive.

Six paint colours are offered across the range: Black pearl, Camden grey, Gloucester green, Oxford White, Sterling silver and White pearl. If you're unsure how to weigh spec against term and mileage, our guide to choosing your car is a good starting point.

MG MGS9 FAQs

Yes, that's the point of it. Seven seats across three rows, 4.98m of length, a 2.92m wheelbase and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, with 85% for child occupant protection and 84% for adult occupant protection. Reviewers consistently rate the middle-row space highly.

It doesn't have to be charged to drive - the 1.5-litre petrol engine will keep it going. But you only get the benefit of the 24.7 kWh battery if you plug in. Charging is AC only, at up to 7 kW, so a home or workplace wallbox is really the requirement here.

332 litres with all three rows of seats up, which is usable rather than generous - fine for a school run and a supermarket shop. Fold the third row and it rises to 1,026 litres. Every version gets a powered tailgate.

It's rated to tow up to 2,000 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked, which covers most touring caravans and trailers. Kerb weight is 2,160 kg.

MG covers the MGS9 with a 7-year / 80,000-mile manufacturer warranty, plus a 3-year paintwork guarantee and a 7-year anti-corrosion guarantee. Servicing is every 12 months or 15,000 miles. On a typical lease term the warranty will outlast the contract comfortably.

That depends entirely on what's available at the time, and it moves as pricing is refreshed. The entry Comfort trim is currently from £325.72 a month. Check the live MGS9 lease deals below for today's figures across both trims.
