The Chery Tiggo 8 is a 4.73-metre, seven-seat SUV sold in petrol and plug-in hybrid form, with a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. This page explains the two powertrains and the Aspire and Summit trims so you can choose the right version to lease.
The Chery Tiggo 8 is a seven-seat family SUV, 4.73 metres long, sold in one body style with a choice of two powertrains and two trim levels. It's Chery's answer to the question families keep asking: three rows of seats without a three-row price tag.
It suits households who need occasional extra seats - grandparents, the school run, a friend's child on a Saturday - and who want a long warranty to go with them. Chery covers the Tiggo 8 for 7 years or 100,000 miles, and Euro NCAP awarded it 5 stars.
The choice is simple enough: a 1.6-litre turbo petrol or a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid, in Aspire or Summit trim. Both powertrains are automatic and front-wheel drive, so the decision is really about charging and performance rather than gearboxes or grip.

The Tiggo 8 is Chery's seven-seat family SUV. It's a big car by the numbers: 4.73 m long, 1.86 m wide and 1.71 m tall.
Reviewers consistently praise the cabin, describing soft-touch materials and a build quality that feels a class above what the car costs, along with a large central touchscreen and plenty of standard equipment. The common criticisms are equally consistent: the third row is best treated as occasional seating, the boot shrinks to 117 litres with all seven seats up, and nearly everything is controlled through the screen.
Road testers also tend to prefer the plug-in hybrid, finding it quieter and more responsive than the petrol. Chery backs every version with a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty.
Because the standard specification is generous on both trims, which means the version you lease doesn't need a long options list to feel complete. Every Tiggo 8 has adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, an electrically adjustable driver's seat and wireless phone charging.
Safety kit is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist and automatic high beam. Euro NCAP's 5-star result breaks down as 82% adult occupant, 85% child occupant, 80% vulnerable road users and 78% safety assist.
On practicality, it's seven seats, five doors, a 494-litre boot with the third row folded and an 11.2 m turning circle. Servicing falls due every 12 months or 10,000 miles, which is worth knowing when you set the mileage on your agreement.
Pick the petrol if you'd rather never think about a cable, and the plug-in hybrid if you can charge at home or work.
A straightforward turbo petrol with a 7-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive, producing 145 bhp and 275 Nm. It takes 9.8 seconds to reach 62 mph, tops out at 118 mph and records 36.2 mpg and 177 g/km of CO2 on the WLTP test. No charging, no plugs, no routine to change.
This pairs a 1.5-litre engine with an 18.4 kWh battery for 201 bhp, 365 Nm and 8.5 seconds to 62 mph, through a single-speed automatic. Charging peaks at 40 kW, taking the best version from 30-80% in 20 minutes, or about 1.7 hours at 6.6 kW on a home wallbox on the best version. It's the one for company car drivers and anyone who can plug in overnight.

Aspire covers the essentials well; Summit is about comfort and convenience rather than extra performance.
The entry trim gets 19-inch alloy wheels, artificial leather upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 540-degree panoramic camera view, a leather steering wheel and front and rear parking sensors. Keyless entry and start, a rear-view camera and climate control are included as well.
The Aspire is currently available from £287.23 a month.
Summit adds a slide-and-tilt front panoramic sunroof with a fixed rear pane and sunblind, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, massaging front seats, a hands-free powered tailgate and a head-up display. Same 19-inch alloys and artificial leather trim underneath.
The Summit is currently available from £313.60 a month. Against the Aspire, that is currently £26.36/mo more expensive.
