Leasing a Volkswagen Polo
Volkswagen Polo is small car with lots of comfort
Great to drive too
The Volkswagen Polo might be a small hatchback but it offers lots of comfort and it's a quiet place to spend time in. There's a lot to like about this new car which is also great to drive and it builds nicely on its predecessors’ attributes.
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE VOLKSWAGEN POLO
Of the engines for the Volkswagen Polo, the 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol unit producing 110 HP is a sound choice with plenty of power and smooth delivery to make it a capable motorway cruiser. The 1.0 litre non-turbocharged petrol engine is good around town while the new 1.5 litre TSI unit with cylinder deactivation is also a good one to consider. VW also offer the new Polo with a quick shifting automatic gearbox, though not for all engines. For those who might be interested, the new VW Polo will be available with a natural gas-powered engine and two diesel units as well.
EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING
While this is the sixth generation of a successful model, it has sold around 14 million units, it is also now the largest Volkswagen Polo the firm has made. The extra length has delivered more space in the cabin and helped improve the ride comfort. In addition, the boot has also grown by 25% and is now 351 litres in size and VW says that its new Polo has more equipment on board including blind spot detection along with a new infotainment system with a nicely styled dashboard. There are some exterior tweaks and this small hatchback is great to drive with simple controls.
While the entry level model is sparse for equipment, the rest of the Polo range offers excellent levels of kit including cruise control, parking sensors and a leather steering wheel. Drivers will also find pedestrian monitoring, city emergency braking as well as coming home and leaving home functionality for the headlights. Around town, the Volkswagen Polo is easy to drive and manoeuvre thanks to its light steering and most of the engines are good performers on long motorway journeys. There are 14 body colours to choose from and 13 for the dashboard.
Essentially, the Volkswagen Polo has been a popular small hatchback for very good reasons; it's a great car to drive, it's comfortable and quiet and the refinement levels help give it the edge when compared with its competitors.
