Leasing a Suzuki Swift

The Suzuki Swift has undergone a facelift, and it offers an entertaining and stylish car to drive. There's a lot to recommend the Swift as a contract hire family vehicle - but its low running costs help it stand out.

Suzuki Swift Engines and Performance

The Suzuki Swift has always been an enjoyable, agile and fun car to drive and the latest version underpins those credentials. The suspension delivers a smooth ride, and there's little in the way of body lean for those who enjoy driving on winding country roads.

The Swift has a responsive 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 83 bhp with emissions of 111g/km - which makes it a great choice for business contract hire users. The hybrid engine returns an impressive WLTP fuel economy of 57 mpg with the manual gearbox, and this figure drops to 50 mpg for the CVT automatic transmission.

For those who need better levels of performance, the Swift Sport hybrid has a 1.4-litre petrol engine.

Suzuki Swift Handling

The Suzuki Swift is competing in a very competitive supermini segment, but it has built-up a loyal following with its rewarding driving experience and low running costs.

It has been facelifted for 2021 with various equipment upgrades and some styling tweaks. The latest model is the fourth generation of the Swift and is up against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa. All of these are very good cars, but there is still something to like about the Swift as a car lease opportunity.

For many people, the Swift is more stylish, and the athletic stance helps deliver the agility - this is a car that is still rooted in its city car origins so it is easy to manoeuvre around town and park. It's also a comfortable car on long motorway journeys, and despite the limited engine power, it is still fun on country roads. The suspension helps to deliver the smooth ride. The interior may not match its pricier rivals, but it is stylish and comfortable, and the car is easy to live with on a daily basis.

It's also available with an automatic six-speed transmission and the firm's all-wheel-drive Allgrip system which is ideal for those who need to travel across slippery surfaces and will bring confidence in bad weather conditions.

SUZUKI SWIFT EQUIPMENT

There's a decent list of equipment, the entry-level Swift offers manual air-conditioning, LED headlights, smartphone connectivity and DAB radio. Other models come with alloy wheels, an improved infotainment system and satnav.

The lack of safety kit means the Swift has been awarded three stars by Euro NCAP, but Suzuki has a strong tradition of making safe and reliable vehicles.

Most of the safety equipment found on the better spec model that gets four safety stars can be bought as an option and includes lane departure warning, active cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

However, the 2021 upgrade added a high specification SZ-L trim which offers adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, polished alloy wheels, smartphone compatibility and air-conditioning. The better safety specified Swift SZ-L also includes a radar braking support system that detects potential collisions and a rearview camera.

What Does the Suzuki Swift Offer?

Essentially, the Suzuki Swift car lease offers a unique car in a competitive segment, and it is certainly worth considering if you enjoy reliability and fun behind the wheel in a supermini that will beat expectations.
