The Peugeot 5008 is a great value MPV that offers impressive driving abilities. It's also well built with lots of space on board.
The Peugeot 5008 offers an impressive line-up of engines including the economical 1.6 litre e-HDI which, when coupled to an automatic gearbox, will return around 59 mpg and has CO2 emissions of 126g/km; there's also a 2.0litre diesel engine available that will return 69mpg. The petrol engines will return around 40mpg.
The 5008 is a spacious and practical people carrier that has a robust interior which will take a lot of punishment from even the most demanding of owners. It's also a more than effective alternative to its main rivals, with a good build level, some great design ideas on board and excellent handling abilities too. Indeed, the load area for the 5008 is also larger than most of its rivals. The boot measures 679litres in size and with the rear seats folded flat that will rise to an impressive 2,506 litres - effectively making it a small van.
There are lots of cubbyholes and storage areas within the cabin of the 5008 to help its practicality. A revamp in 2014 saw the exterior styling of the 5008 being improved as well as the interior. It certainly has a premium feel and has been built for comfort. This need for comfort means the suspension is quite soft to absorb bumpy roads but the ride itself is smooth and the seats are supportive. Despite the size and the suspension, the 5008 has accurate steering and there's little body roll on corners and some models have 'dynamic role control' fitted to help keep the vehicle true.
The insulation levels are quite high which means that the drive itself is very quiet and there's little road or wind noise despite the size of the 5008's front end. As usual with a car that offers seven seats, the third row is only really suitable for children or adults on very short journeys. The 5008 is also safe to drive, it scored full marks in the Euro NCAP crash tests and features include stability control, six airbags and traction control. There's also an impressive list of standard kit including parking sensors and air con. Other models come with satnav, reversing camera and head-up display.
Essentially, the Peugeot 5008 is an MPV that's not only practical and spacious but also offers a fun drive in what is a will-built and enjoyable vehicle.
