About the Peugeot 5008

The 5008 is Peugeot's largest SUV and the seven-seat sister to the 3008. This is the third-generation car, on sale in this form since 2024.

Every version has seven seats and a 348-litre boot with all three rows in use, which is roughly family-hatchback territory - fine for a buggy and the weekly shop, less so for seven people's holiday luggage. Fold the third row and it grows considerably.

Road testers generally rate it as comfortable, quiet and easy to drive for its size, with a cabin that feels a class above the price. The flat 348-litre figure applies whichever powertrain you pick, and Peugeot covers the car with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty.

Why lease a Peugeot 5008?

Because the standard kit list is long and the seven seats aren't an extra-cost option. Leasing also means you hand the car back at the end of the term rather than worrying what a large family SUV is worth three years from now.

Every 5008, in every trim, gets keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, privacy glass and ambient lighting. Safety kit is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and traffic sign recognition.

Euro NCAP awarded the 5008 four stars, with 80% for adult occupant protection and 85% for child occupant protection. If you tow, the plug-in hybrid is rated for up to 1,300kg braked - the highest in the range - and the electric for 1,000kg, so check the individual version against your trailer or caravan.

Which 5008 powertrain is right for me?

Three choices: petrol if you'd rather not plug in at all, plug-in hybrid if you can charge at home and do short daily runs, electric if you want the longest range and lowest running costs.

Petrol

The 1.2-litre turbo petrol makes 143bhp, drives the front wheels through an automatic gearbox, and never needs plugging in. WLTP economy runs from 45.2 to 53.3mpg depending on version. It's the simplest answer, though braked towing is limited to 750kg.

Plug-in hybrid

A 1.6-litre turbo petrol paired with a 21kWh battery for 222bhp, automatic, front-wheel drive. It charges at up to 7kW, and the best version takes 2.9 hours for a full charge at 7.4kW. It makes sense if you can plug in regularly - and it's the towing pick at 1,300kg braked.

Electric

Batteries of 73 to 97kWh, 210 to 321bhp, and up to 413 miles of WLTP range on the longest-legged version. Front- or all-wheel drive, automatic, rapid charging at up to 160kW - 20-80% in 27 minutes on the best version. Our electric car guide covers the charging basics.

Allure

The starting point, and better equipped than most entry trims. 18-inch 'Maya' alloy wheels, Eco LED headlights, cloth and leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone mirroring, a driver vigilance camera and Peugeot Open & Go keyless entry and push-button start. Adaptive cruise, heated front seats and a 360-degree camera are options here.

The Allure is currently available from £286.45 a month.

Allure Premium

Adds the 360 vision and drive assist package with a heated steering wheel - so a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beam, heated front seats and adaptive cruise control. It rides on 19-inch Breda alloys and adds roof rails, with a retractable towbar available as an option.

The Allure Premium is currently available from £537.77 a month. Against the Allure, that is currently £251.32/mo more expensive.

GT

Over Allure Premium, GT brings adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go and driver's manual lumbar adjustment, plus matrix LED headlights, a hands-free tailgate and three-zone climate control. Upholstery switches to artificial leather. A panoramic roof and massaging front seats are options.

The GT is currently available from £279.18 a month. Against the Allure Premium, that is currently £258.59/mo cheaper. Best value

GT Premium

The comfort-led one. It adds a 360-degree camera, massaging front seats, heated rear seats, electric seat memory, an electrically adjustable driver's seat and blind-spot monitoring, along with rear cross-traffic alert, active lane-change assist and Alcantara and leather trim. Ventilated front seats are optional.

The GT Premium is currently available from £582.98 a month. Against the GT, that is currently £303.80/mo more expensive.
