Land Rover Discovery Sport from First Vehicle Leasing
Versatile and comfortable SUV
If you are looking for a capable and compact SUV that will seat five and up to seven people in comfort, then the Land Rover Discovery Sport has been designed for you. The bold design for the 2019 revamp makes it look like a premium offering around town, but it's also a capable performer when taken off-road with a full complement of family members on board.
Engines and performance for the Land Rover Discovery Sport
The 2019 model year for the Land Rover Discovery Sport introduced a new hybrid to join the ranks of the excellent petrol and diesel units. The 2.0 litre diesel engine has outputs of 150, 180 and 240 bhp, while 2.0 litre petrol option produces 200 or 250 bhp. Most models now come with a mild hybrid system that sees a 48 V electric motor helping fuel economy and also reduce emissions at low speeds. The Discovery Sport can be driven as electric only for a short distance and the engines are mated to an efficient nine-speed automatic gearbox. Land Rover will offer a plug-in hybrid option for those interested in the Discovery Sport that should deliver a 30 mile range, probably enough for those on the school run commuting to work.
Equipment and handling
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is a large car that is easy to drive with a good view from the driver's seat. The interior is comfortable and the controls are within easy reach. There are two-wheel or four-wheel drive options with the latter offering four modes to suit the conditions including sand, snow, mud and comfort. And for those who may be confused about which mode to use, there's an excellent auto mode that will select the appropriate mode for the conditions. Essentially, the Discovery Sport will let drivers enjoy the firm's legendary off-roading capabilities to descend steep slopes and it has the ability of wading through water that is 60 cm deep. As mentioned, the Discovery Sport is a 5+2 vehicle which delivers seven seats in some models, though the rear row can be cramped. Among the excellent list of equipment is an artificial intelligence algorithm that will learn the driver’s habits over time, so it can set the steering wheel and seat position before the driver gets on board. The system also learns your preferred cabin temperature settings and media preferences. The new Land Rover Discovery Sport also includes the firm's ‘clear sight’ ground view system, which features in the new Evoque so there is a camera in the front grille that will display the image of what's underneath the car on the central touchscreen. An excellent idea for those trying to negotiate difficult terrain, or even park their car. The revamped model is impressive and well-made and it is a comfortable and great car to drive; it's an ideal choice for families and for those who want to try off-roading in a very capable vehicle.
