The Jeep Avenger is a compact five-seat SUV that sits at the bottom of Jeep's UK line-up, and it's the one most people actually park outside a terraced house. At about 4.08 m long with a 10.5 m turning circle, it's built for town driving first and rough tracks second.

It suits drivers who want a raised seating position, chunky Jeep looks and a car that's easy to place in traffic. Rear seat space is tight, so it's better for couples, commuters and small families than for carrying three adults in the back.

The choice is simple: one body style, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol or a 54 kWh electric, and five trims - 85th Anniversary, Summit, Upland, Skyview and Overland.

About the Jeep Avenger

The Avenger is Jeep's smallest model, designed and built for Europe rather than adapted from an American SUV. It seats five, carries 262 to 355 litres in the boot depending on version, and comes with a three-year, 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty.

Reviewers consistently praise the styling and the way it drives around town - light controls, good visibility from the boxy shape, and sacrificial plastic cladding that shrugs off car park scuffs. The common criticisms are just as consistent: rear legroom is modest, and some cabin plastics feel cheap for the money.

The electric version is the one that put the Avenger on the map, with up to 249 miles of WLTP range, while the petrol covers buyers who'd rather not plug in. Euro NCAP awarded the Avenger three stars, which is worth knowing if safety scores drive your shortlist.

Why lease a Jeep Avenger?

Because the Avenger's appeal is short-term rather than long-term: it's a fashionable small SUV you can hand back after three or four years, and every version arrives generously equipped without you paying for options up front.

Every Avenger has keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors. Air conditioning, privacy glass, power-folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and an electric parking brake are standard too.

On safety, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam are fitted across the range. Servicing falls every 24 months or 16,000 miles, and the electric model's battery is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, guaranteeing 70% of capacity.

Which Avenger powertrain is right for me?

Two choices: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol, or a 54 kWh electric. Pick on where you drive and whether you can charge at home.

Petrol

The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo runs from 99 to 143 bhp, with manual or automatic gearboxes and front- or all-wheel drive depending on version. WLTP economy is 49.6 to 57.6 mpg, and it's the one to pick if towing or long unplanned trips are part of your week.

Electric

The electric Avenger has 154 bhp, a 54 kWh battery and up to 249 miles of WLTP range. It's automatic and front-wheel drive, rapid charges from 20-80% in 27 minutes at 100 kW on the best version, and makes most sense if you can charge at home overnight. Our electric car guide covers the basics.

Which Avenger trim should I choose?

Five trims, and the differences are mostly comfort kit, wheels and whether you get all-wheel drive.

85th Anniversary

Wheels stay 18-inch "Diamond Cut", seats stay cloth, and massaging front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat and a hands-free tailgate are available as options. The Summit is currently available from £255.17 a month. Against the 85th Anniversary, that is currently £28.82/mo cheaper. Best value

Upland

Upland is the outdoorsy one: it adds roof rails and a fixed towbar over Summit, and its entry version is the 143 bhp all-wheel-drive petrol on 17-inch alloys with cloth trim. Adaptive cruise control, heated and massaging front seats and a hands-free tailgate are all optional here. The Upland is currently available from £390.47 a month. Against the Summit, that is currently £135.30/mo more expensive.

Skyview

Skyview swaps ruggedness for light and luxury: an opening glass sunroof with a manual blind, leather upholstery and the winter pack, heated and massaging front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, a hands-free tailgate, blind-spot monitoring and front parking sensors. It rides on 16-inch "Diamond Cut" alloys in medium glossy grey with chainable summer tyres. The Skyview is currently available from £269.51 a month. Against the Skyview, that is currently £109.86/mo more expensive.

Jeep Avenger FAQs

It works for small families rather than big ones. There are five seats and 262 to 355 litres of boot space depending on version, but rear legroom is one of the car's known limits - sit a child seat in the back before you commit.

Between 262 and 355 litres with the rear seats up, depending on the version, and 1,218 to 1,277 litres with them folded. The electric model has the largest boot at 355 litres; petrol versions run from 262 to 321 litres.

Yes, up to 1,200 kg braked on the best petrol version, with petrol versions rated from 1,050 kg upwards. Upland and Overland come with a fixed towbar as standard. Check the towing figure on the individual deal before you order.

On the best version, 20-80% takes 27 minutes at a 100 kW rapid charger, and a full charge takes 5.8 hours at 11 kW on AC. With 249 miles of WLTP range and around 4.0 miles per kWh, most drivers charging at home will plug in weekly rather than nightly.

Three years or 60,000 miles from Jeep, whichever comes first, which covers a typical lease term. The electric model's battery has its own eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity. Servicing is every 24 months or 16,000 miles.

Often, yes, on the same version. A monthly rental reflects the gap between the car's cost and its forecast value at the end of the term, plus interest, so a version that holds its value better can cost less per month despite a higher list price. That can change whenever pricing is refreshed.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time - the cheapest trim and powertrain combination moves as stock and pricing change. The 85th Anniversary is currently from £283.99 a month. See the live deals below, and our guide to choosing your car for help setting mileage and term.
