The Fiat Grande Panda is a 4.00m, five-seat SUV offered with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol automatic or a 44 kWh electric powertrain with up to 199 miles of WLTP range. Three trims - Pop, Icon and La Prima - keep the choice simple, and FVL can arrange personal or business leases on any of them.

View dealThe Fiat Grande Panda is a small five-seat SUV, four metres long, that revives one of Fiat's best-loved names with boxy, deliberately retro styling and a simple cabin. It sits at the accessible end of Fiat's range, below the larger 600, and it's aimed squarely at drivers who want something cheerful and easy to park rather than something big.
There's one body style, so the decision comes down to two things: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol automatic or a 44 kWh electric version with up to 199 miles of WLTP range, and then one of three trims - Pop, Icon or La Prima.
Road testers are near-unanimous on the character of it: the design raises a smile, the interior materials are plainly built to a price, and it's far more spacious inside than its footprint suggests.

The Grande Panda is Fiat's small SUV: five seats, five doors, 4.00 m long, with a boot of 361 to 412 litres depending on which version you choose and 1,315 to 1,366 litres with the rear seats folded. Every one comes with a three-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty.
Reviewers consistently praise the styling and the amount of room inside for the size, and just as consistently note the hard, scratchy cabin plastics and the modest performance. Nobody buys one expecting a hot hatch.
What makes it easy to live with day to day is the footprint - a 10.9 m turning circle and a 1.76 m width (2.02 m including the mirrors) mean multi-storey car parks and narrow streets stop being an event.
Because the standard kit list covers the things drivers actually use. Every Grande Panda, whatever the trim, has a digital instrument cluster, rear parking sensors, LED headlights, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, DAB digital radio and an electric parking brake.
Driver assistance is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and automatic high beam. A fixed towbar and an LED third brake light are also listed on every version, and the spare wheel is a tyre repair kit rather than a wheel, which is worth knowing before you order.
Servicing is every 24 months or 16,000 miles, so a typical lease term won't be full of workshop visits. Leasing also sidesteps the question road testers keep raising about cars at this price - what they'll be worth in a few years - because you hand it back.
Two choices, both automatic and both front-wheel drive: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol, or a 44 kWh electric version. Your charging situation decides it more than anything else.
A three-cylinder 1.2-litre turbo with 205 Nm of torque, a six-speed gearbox and a 99 mph top speed, driving the front wheels through an automatic. It has the bigger boot at 412 litres with the seats up, sits in insurance group 19-20, and needs nothing more than a fuel station.
111 bhp, 122 Nm, a WLTP range of up to 199 miles and 3.6 miles per kWh, with 0-62 mph in 11.0-11.5 seconds and an 82 mph top speed. Charging runs at up to 100 kW, giving 20-80% in 27 minutes on the best version, or 2.8 hours at 11 kW on the best version. Boot is 361 litres.
In practice it suits commuting and town driving, especially if you can plug in at home or at work. If you regularly cover long motorway distances, be honest with yourself about that range figure before you commit to a three or four-year contract - our electric car guide walks through how to work it out.

Three trims: Pop, Icon and La Prima. The safety and screen technology is shared, so the differences are wheels, glass and convenience kit.
The entry trim, on 16-inch steel wheels with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, traffic sign recognition, ECO LED headlamps, rear parking sensors, central locking with security push, electric heated door mirrors and cruise control with a speed limiter on the steering wheel. The Pop is currently available from £304.91 a month.
Icon swaps to 16-inch alloy wheels and adds privacy glass and roof rails over the Pop, keeping cloth upholstery. It's the small-detail step rather than the technology step, and the tinted rear glass is genuinely useful if you carry children or luggage. The Icon is currently available from £316.31 a month. Against the Pop, that is currently £11.40/mo more expensive.
La Prima moves to 17-inch alloys and adds the convenience kit: embedded connected navigation with live traffic, a rear-view camera, front parking sensors, wireless phone charging, keyless entry and go, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, climate control and power-folding door mirrors. The La Prima is currently available from £253.72 a month. Against the Icon, that is currently £62.59/mo cheaper. Best value
