Leasing a Dacia Duster
Dacia Duster is a capable SUV
Value for money offering
The Dacia Duster is a capable SUV with lots of room and a big boot. It's a sound choice for families looking for a value for money offering while enjoying a vehicle with a smooth ride.
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE IN THE DACIA DUSTER
The new model for the Dacia Duster introduced a turbocharged 1.2 litre TCi engine producing 125bhp which should return 46 mpg with emissions of 138 g/km. The Duster is still available with the previous 1.6 litre petrol engine and the excellent 1.5 litre DCi diesel engine which should return 62mpg. The new model also offers an efficient dual clutch gearbox for the first time.
HANDLING AND EQUIPMENT
A new model was unveiled in 2016 and while the Dacia Duster range has a low price tag, it doesn’t mean that owners should have low expectations since the Duster will exceed them. This is not a cheap and cheerful offering, it's a sound and practical 4x4 that is a good performer with a smooth ride.
The suspension is soft to make it a pleasant place to be on long motorway journeys and the raised ride height enables a good view of the road ahead. The equipment list is fairly sparse on the entry level model but there is stability control fitted as standard. The 2017 model year introduced a new top the range trim with more equipment though the entire range saw equipment upgrades, including a new dashboard and chrome inserts.
The option list includes alloy wheels and rear parking sensors as well as a rear parking camera. Dacia also offer a part leather upholstery option as well as metallic paint. The top model, the new Prestige, features a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system, satnav and rear parking camera. Other standard kit includes ABS, electronic stability control, roof bars and engine immobiliser.
Out on the road, the Dacia Duster handles well and the engines are responsive; the cabin is spacious and there is a big boot. The interior has a robust feel which makes it a sound choice for families. It’s available as two- and four-wheel-drive with the Duster offering itself as a reasonably good off-roader for those who need it and it's a capable and agile performer around town.
Essentially, the Dacia Duster offers potential owners a decent SUV with lots of space for the price of a small hatchback and the level of performance will surprise - the mid-range spec for the Duster is highly recommended for its equipment levels.
