CUPRA Leon Lease Deals

The CUPRA Leon is CUPRA's sporting family car, sold as a hatchback or an estate with petrol or plug-in hybrid power and trims from V1 to VZ3. This guide explains the body styles, engines and equipment so you can pick the right version before you look at the deals below.

The CUPRA Leon is a five-seat family car with a sporting streak - the same everyday shape as a conventional hatchback or estate, but tuned, trimmed and styled to feel like something more interesting. It sits alongside CUPRA's SUVs and electric models as the brand's low-slung driver's car.

It suits someone who needs a proper family car and doesn't want an SUV. Boot space runs from 270 to 620 litres depending on body style and version, and the car is only about 4.40 m long in hatchback form, so it stays easy to park.

The choice comes down to three things: hatchback or estate, petrol or plug-in hybrid, and then a trim - V1, V2 and Shadow Edition for everyday use, or VZ1, VZ2 and VZ3 if you want the performance versions.

About the CUPRA Leon

The current Leon, on sale in this form since 2024, is CUPRA's take on the compact family car: five seats, five doors, and a petrol range that stretches from 148 bhp up to 328 bhp. Practical first, sharp second.

Road testers consistently praise the way the quicker versions drive and the quality of the cabin, while noting that the touchscreen-led controls take some learning. Reviewers are also clear that the entry petrol is pleasant rather than thrilling - which is fine if you want the look and the kit rather than the lap times.

It carries a 5-year / 90,000-mile manufacturer warranty and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, with 88% for adult occupant protection.

Leon body styles

Two shapes, same car underneath. The hatchback is the shorter, tidier one at about 4.40 m; the estate stretches to 4.66 m and adds a much larger boot without changing the wheelbase.

Estate

The estate carries 470 to 620 litres with the rear seats up, depending on version, and its 4.66 m length is the only real cost. If you regularly load bikes, dogs or pushchairs, this is the sensible one.

Hatchback

The hatchback gives up boot space - 270 to 380 litres with the seats up - for a shorter, neater body. Same 10.8 m turning circle, same cabin up front, and the look most people picture when they think of a Leon.

Why lease a CUPRA Leon?

Because the standard specification is genuinely complete, which matters on a lease: you're choosing a car for two to four years, and the Leon arrives with the kit most people would otherwise pay to add.

Every version gets adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front and rear parking sensors and three-zone climate control. Safety assistance is standard too: autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam, backed by that 5-star Euro NCAP result.

On practicality, it seats five, tows up to 1,700 kg braked on the right version, and the service interval is every 24 months or 18,600 miles - worth knowing if you're deciding whether to add maintenance to your agreement.

Which Leon powertrain is right for me?

Two choices: petrol, or a plug-in hybrid that needs charging to make sense. Petrol covers the whole range from mild family car to genuinely fast; the plug-in hybrid is the one company-car drivers usually ask about first.

Petrol

Power runs from 148 bhp to 328 bhp, with a manual or an automatic and front- or all-wheel drive depending on version. WLTP economy spans 34.0 to 52.3 mpg and CO2 122 to 189 g/km, so the engine you pick changes the running costs considerably. Nothing to plug in, ever.

Plug-in hybrid

A 1.5-litre turbo paired with a 25.8 kWh battery, from 201 to 268 bhp, automatic and front-wheel drive only. It charges at up to 50 kW, giving 10-80% in 26 minutes on the best version, or 0-100% in 2.5 hours at 11 kW at home. Worth it if you can charge regularly; if you can't, choose petrol. Our electric and hybrid leasing guides cover the tax side.

Which Leon trim should I choose?

Six to pick from. V1, V2 and Shadow Edition are the everyday trims; VZ1, VZ2 and VZ3 are the performance versions, all with 296 bhp petrol power as their entry point.

V1

The entry trim, 148 bhp and front-wheel drive, on 18-inch "Garbi" alloys with cloth upholstery. It brings the 12.9-inch media system with navigation, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with follow, a wireless charger and Keyless Go. A fixed towbar and sports seats are optional. The V1 is currently available from £308.80 a month.

V2

V2 moves to 19-inch "Mistral" alloys and cloth upholstery, adding heated front seats, a rear-view camera, KESSY Advanced keyless entry, multicoloured ambient lighting, electric driver's seat with memory and adaptive suspension. The V2 is currently available from £331.10 a month. Against the V1, that is currently £22.31/mo more expensive.

Shadow Edition

Shadow Edition is mostly about the look - dark detailing over V2's equipment, on 19-inch alloys - though it does add matrix LED headlights and blind-spot monitoring. The panoramic roof and fixed towbar remain options. The Shadow Edition is currently available from £370.39 a month. Against the V2, that is currently £39.29/mo more expensive.

Then come the performance Leons, where the 296 bhp petrol becomes the starting point rather than an upgrade.

VZ1

VZ1 is the plainest of the fast ones: 296 bhp, front-wheel drive, 19-inch "Polar" alloys and cloth trim, with the CUPRA Supersports heated steering wheel and its satellite buttons. Lane-keep assist and LED headlights are included. The VZ1 is currently available from £433.78 a month. Against the Shadow Edition, that is currently £63.38/mo more expensive.

VZ2

VZ2 keeps the 296 bhp petrol and adds a leather pack with memory function for the front seats, 19-inch "Mistral" alloys, self-steering parking, blind-spot monitoring and active lane-change assist. This is the one for long-distance drivers who still want the performance. The VZ2 is currently available from £451.08 a month. Against the VZ1, that is currently £17.30/mo more expensive.

VZ3

VZ3 is the visual flagship: 19-inch Hailstorm forged machined black and copper alloys with 91Y tyres over VZ2's kit, so it's a styling step rather than an equipment one. The VZ3 is currently available from £492.02 a month. Against the VZ2, that is currently £40.94/mo more expensive.

CUPRA Leon FAQs

Yes, for a family of four or five. It has five seats, a 5-star Euro NCAP rating with 86% for child occupant protection, and three-zone climate control as standard. The estate is the more practical body if you need boot space.

It depends on the version. The hatchback holds 270 to 380 litres with the rear seats up, the estate 470 to 620 litres. Plug-in hybrids sit toward the lower end of the boot range overall.

It will drive without charging, but you lose the point of it. With a 25.8 kWh battery, charging at up to 11 kW at home takes 2.5 hours for a full charge on the best version. No off-street parking or workplace charger? Take the petrol.

Braked towing goes up to 1,700 kg depending on version, with 1,500 kg the lower figure, and unbraked capacity between 680 and 750 kg. A fixed towbar is a factory option on every trim, so specify it at order stage rather than fitting one later on a leased car.

CUPRA covers the car for 5 years or 90,000 miles. Plug-in hybrid batteries get a separate 5-year / 100,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity. Servicing is due every 24 months or 18,600 miles, and the car carries a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel.

That depends entirely on what's available at the time, and it moves. The cheapest version to buy isn't always the cheapest to lease, so compare the current Leon deals below rather than assuming. Our guide to choosing your car covers how mileage and term affect the rental.
