View dealThe CUPRA Leon Estate is the family-sized load carrier in CUPRA's range: a five-seat estate measuring 4.66 metres long, with a boot of 470 to 620 litres depending on version, and a distinctly sporting character that separates it from the usual estate crowd.
It suits drivers who need genuine space for kids, dogs, bikes or work kit but don't want an SUV. Road testers consistently describe it as a fast, comfortable, low-slung alternative to a tall family car, and the quickest versions are treated as proper performance estates.
The choice here is simple enough. One body style, two powertrain families - petrol or plug-in hybrid - and six trims: V1, V2, Shadow Edition, VZ1, VZ2 and VZ3.

The Leon Estate is the practical half of the current Leon range, on sale in this form since 2024. It carries five people, tows up to 1,700 kg braked and comes with a 5-year / 90,000-mile manufacturer warranty.
Reviewers consistently praise the boot - up to 620 litres with the rear seats up on petrol versions - along with rear legroom, build quality and the copper-accented cabin. The common criticism is the touchscreen-led interior, where several testers would prefer more physical controls.
Performance is the other half of the story. The petrol range runs from 148 bhp up to 328 bhp, with front- or all-wheel drive depending on version, and the fastest version covers 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds. Euro NCAP awarded the Leon five stars, with 88% for adult occupant protection.
The Estate is the one to choose if boot space matters. It's 4.66 m long against 4.40 m for the CUPRA Leon Hatchback, and carries 470 to 620 litres behind the rear seats where the hatchback manages 270 to 380 litres.
Both seat five and stand 1.44 m tall, so headroom and seating aren't the deciding factor. Towing is close too, with both rated up to 1,700 kg braked, though the Estate's unbraked figure runs slightly higher at 700-750 kg.
If you'd rather see everything CUPRA offers under the Leon name in one place, the full Leon range page covers both bodies.
Because every version arrives well equipped, and on a lease you're paying to use the car rather than own it - so a generously specified family estate with a five-year warranty behind it is an easy car to run for three or four years.
Standard across the range: adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone climate control, roof rails and front and rear parking sensors.
Safety kit is standard too - autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam among it. Worth knowing before you order: there's no spare wheel, just a tyre repair kit, and servicing falls every 24 months or 18,600 miles.
Two choices: petrol, or a plug-in hybrid you'll want to charge regularly.
The petrol range spans 148 to 328 bhp, with manual or automatic gearboxes and front- or all-wheel drive. WLTP economy runs from 34.0 to 52.3 mpg and CO2 from 124 to 189 g/km, so the entry versions make far more sense for tax than the 328 bhp one. It's the simplest option if you can't charge at home.
A 1.5-litre turbo petrol paired with a 25.8 kWh battery, giving 201 to 268 bhp through an automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive. It charges 0-100% in 2.5 hours at 11 kW on the best version, or 10-80% in 26 minutes at a 50 kW public charger. Skip charging and the economy advantage disappears - our electric and hybrid leasing guides explain the trade-off.

V1 covers the essentials; the VZ trims are the performance-focused half of the range.
The entry trim, 148 bhp and front-wheel drive, on 18-inch "Garbi" alloys with cloth upholstery. It gets the 12.9-inch media system with navigation pack, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with follow, wireless charging, keyless go and LED headlights. A fixed towbar and sports seats are available as options.
Over V1, V2 adds heated front seats, a rear-view camera, KESSY Advanced keyless entry and multicoloured ambient lighting in the glovebox and footwells. Cloth upholstery, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory and 19-inch "Mistral" alloys come with it. An opening panoramic roof is optional.
Shadow Edition is really about appearance rather than extra equipment over V2 - it keeps the same 19-inch alloys but adds a leather upholstery pack. It also brings matrix LED headlights, with the panoramic roof and fixed towbar available as options.
The starting point for the plug-in hybrid VZ trims, from 268 bhp. Against V1 it adds the CUPRA Supersports heated steering wheel with satellite buttons, a rear-view camera, KESSY Advanced and multicoloured ambient lighting, plus heated and electrically adjustable front seats with memory, adaptive suspension and 19-inch "Polar" alloys.
VZ2 adds a leather pack with memory function for the front seats over VZ1, along with 19-inch "Mistral" alloys. The driver-assistance list grows too, with self-steering parking, blind-spot monitoring and active lane-change assist - useful on a car this long in tight car parks.
The top trim, distinguished mainly by its 19-inch Hailstorm forged machined black and copper alloy wheels with 91Y tyres. Options mirror the rest of the VZ range, including the opening panoramic roof and fixed towbar. Availability of deals on individual trims changes constantly, so check the live offers below.
If you're weighing up other family estates and hatchbacks, the Škoda Octavia covers similar ground with more space, the SEAT Leon is the closely related option, the Peugeot 308 takes a style-led approach, and the BYD Seal 6 is the newer hybrid alternative. More from the brand sits on our CUPRA leasing page.
