View dealThe CUPRA Born is an all-electric five-door hatchback: five seats, a 385-litre boot, rear-wheel drive and a length of 4.34 m, which makes it a family car that still fits a normal parking space. It's CUPRA's electric hatch, sitting below the brand's SUVs and alongside its sportier petrol models.
Every Born is electric and automatic, with batteries from 58 kWh to 79 kWh, 187 to 322 bhp and a WLTP range of up to 389 miles on the best version. There's one body style, so the real choice is battery, power and trim.
Three trims: V1 and V2 for everyday use, and the 322 bhp VZ for drivers who want a genuinely quick hatchback. What's available to lease at any moment depends on stock and current offers, so the list below your copy is the place to check.

The Born is CUPRA's electric hatchback and has been the brand's EV standard-bearer since it arrived. The current Born is the facelifted version, with a sharper front end and physical steering wheel buttons in place of the old touch-sensitive panels.
Reviewers consistently rate it as one of the better-handling electric family cars - rear-wheel drive, well-controlled body movements, and a ride that stays comfortable despite the sports suspension fitted to every version. The cabin gets steady praise too, particularly since the update.
Practically, it punches above its 4.34 m length, with 385 litres of boot space with the rear seats up. CUPRA covers it with a five-year, 90,000-mile warranty, and it holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Because the standard specification is strong from V1 upwards and the running costs suit a lease. Every Born gets adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation and a digital instrument cluster.
Safety kit is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. Euro NCAP awarded five stars, with 89% for adult occupant protection and 87% for child occupants.
The battery carries its own eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity - useful reassurance even on a lease, since it covers the car for longer than most contracts run. Servicing is every 24 months. If you're new to EVs, our electric car guide covers the basics before you order.
There's one answer here: the Born is electric only, with no petrol, diesel or hybrid version. What varies is battery size and power output, and both affect how far you go between charges.
Batteries run from 58 kWh to 79 kWh, power from 187 bhp to 322 bhp, and WLTP range from 297 to 389 miles depending on version. It's automatic and rear-wheel drive. Rapid charging takes 29 minutes from 10-80% at 183 kW on the best version, or up to 6.5 hours for a full charge at 11 kW at home on the best version. Our guide to charging an electric car explains the practicalities.

V1 is already well equipped, V2 adds the parking and vision technology most drivers notice daily, and VZ is the performance version. All three are five-door hatchbacks with rear-wheel drive.
V1 starts at 187 bhp on 19-inch "Storm" alloy wheels with cloth upholstery. It includes full LED headlights with adverse weather function, the navigation system with one infotainment, wireless full link smartphone integration with mirroring, a heated leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with satellite buttons, heated front seats and air conditioning. A fixed panoramic glass roof and a heat pump are options. The V1 is currently available from £304.80 a month.
V2 keeps the 187 bhp entry motor, 19-inch "Storm" wheels and cloth trim, then adds a top view camera using front, rear and two side cameras, intelligent park assist with trained and remote park assist, and an augmented reality head-up display. Massaging front seats and an electrically adjustable driver's seat come too; matrix LED headlights join the option list. The V2 is currently available from £338.63 a month. Against the V1, that is currently £33.83/mo more expensive.
Then there's the performance Born.
VZ produces 322 bhp with 545 Nm, 0-62 mph in 5.6 seconds and a 124 mph top speed - a proper quick hatchback rather than a warm one. It gains microsuede upholstery, Sennheiser premium audio and CUP Bucket seats with power adjustment, lumbar support and memory, plus 20-inch "Firestorm" alloys, matrix LED headlights, adaptive suspension and launch control. The VZ is currently available from £420.90 a month. Against the V2, that is currently £82.27/mo more expensive.
