BMW 4 Series Convertible Lease Deals

The BMW 4 Series Convertible is the four-seat, two-door soft-top version of BMW's 4 Series, sold in petrol form with an automatic gearbox and rear- or all-wheel drive. This page explains what it offers, how it compares with the Coupe and Hatchback, and how to choose between M Sport, M Sport Pro and the M440i.

The BMW 4 Series Convertible is a four-seat, two-door soft-top built for people who want open-air driving without giving up a proper back seat. It sits above the 2 Series in BMW's line-up as the drop-top member of the 4 Series family.

The choice here is simple. One body style, petrol power only from 181 to 387 bhp with an automatic gearbox, and three versions to pick from: M Sport, M Sport Pro and the M440i.

Everything on this page applies to the Convertible, and the deals below it are for the Convertible only.

About the BMW 4 Series Convertible

This is the current, second-generation 4 Series Convertible, on sale in this form since 2021. Four seats, a 385-litre boot with the roof up and a 3-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty.

Reviewers consistently praise how quiet it is with the roof raised, how little buffeting front passengers get with it lowered, and the smoothness of the eight-speed automatic. The common criticisms are the weight it carries over the Coupe, tight rear legroom for adults, and a grille design people either love or don't.

At 4.77 m long it's a car you can live with daily, not a weekend toy.

4 Series Convertible or 4 Series Coupe or 4 Series Hatchback?

The Convertible is the one that drops its roof; the price you pay is luggage space and weight. Its 385-litre boot trails the 4 Series Coupe at 440 litres, and both are well behind the five-seat, five-door 4 Series Hatchback, which holds 470 litres seats up and 1,290 litres folded.

All three are within a centimetre or two of each other on length, and all tow 1,600-1,800 kg braked depending on version. The Convertible is the heaviest at 1,690-1,925 kg. Browse the full 4 Series range if you're still weighing up bodies.

Why lease a BMW 4 Series Convertible?

Because the standard kit list is already generous, so you're not forced into options to get a well-equipped car. Every version has heated front seats, electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and ambient lighting.

Safety and parking equipment is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, self-steering parking, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlights.

Practically, it's a genuine four-seater with 385 litres of boot space roof-up, a 59-litre fuel tank and servicing every 24 months or 18,000 miles. Worth knowing before you order: there's no spare wheel, just a tyre repair kit.

Which 4 Series Convertible powertrain is right for me?

There's one fuel to choose from, so the decision is really about how much power you want. Petrol only, automatic only, with rear- or all-wheel drive depending on the version.

Petrol

Power runs from 181 to 387 bhp, with 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines, an eight-speed automatic and 300-540 Nm of torque. 0-62 mph takes 4.8 to 8.2 seconds depending on version, and WLTP economy is 39.2-41.5 mpg with CO2 of 154-164 g/km. No charging, no plugging in.

Which 4 Series Convertible trim should I choose?

M Sport covers the essentials, M Sport Pro adds bigger wheels and better lighting, and the M440i is the six-cylinder performance version.

M Sport

The starting point, from 181 bhp with rear-wheel drive. It brings a three-spoke flat-bottomed M Sport leather multifunction steering wheel, a park assist pack and an ambient lighting pack, on 18-inch "Double Spoke Style 848m" alloy wheels with leather upholstery, plus wireless phone charging, automatic parking assist and voice control.

Adaptive cruise control, heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, lane-keep assist and a fixed towbar are all available as options.

M Sport Pro

M Sport Pro moves up to 19-inch "Double Spoke Style 995m" alloy wheels and adds Adaptive LED Headlights plus automatic high beam, which is the real reason to consider it if you drive a lot of unlit roads at night.

Leather upholstery again, and the same option list as M Sport, including rear cross-traffic alert and active lane-change assist. Entry versions start at 181 bhp with rear-wheel drive.

M440i

Then there's the performance one. The M440i uses a 387 bhp petrol engine with all-wheel drive as standard.

It sits on 18-inch "Double Spoke Style 848m" alloys with leather upholstery. Its character comes from the engine and the look rather than a longer equipment list.

Optional packs such as the Tech Pack, Pro Pack and combined Tech/Pro packs can be added to a trim, and there are 10 paint colours across the range, from Alpine white to Cape York green.

BMW 4 Series Convertible FAQs

It seats four and has a 385-litre boot with the roof up, which is fine for two adults and two children. Access to the back is through two doors only, and road testers note rear legroom is tight for adults on longer journeys.

385 litres with the rear seats up. That's below the 440 litres of the 4 Series Coupe and the 470 litres of the Hatchback, which is the trade-off for a folding roof.

Yes, up to 1,800 kg braked on the strongest versions, with 1,600 kg the lower figure, and 750 kg unbraked. A fixed towbar is a factory option on every trim, so it must be specified when the car is ordered.

A 3-year manufacturer warranty with unlimited mileage, which covers a typical lease term comfortably. Servicing is every 24 months or 18,000 miles, and the car carries a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel.

No. Every 4 Series Convertible on sale is petrol with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, so you simply fill the 59-litre tank. WLTP economy is 39.2-41.5 mpg and CO2 is 154-164 g/km depending on version.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time, and it isn't always the version you'd expect. Check the live 4 Series Convertible deals on this page, and our guide to choosing your car helps you weigh term, mileage and spec before you commit.
