View dealThe Audi A5 Saloon is Audi's executive four-door: five seats, a boot of 331 to 445 litres depending on version, and a cabin built around a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen. It sits between the A3 and the larger executive Audis, and it is the badge that now carries the job the A4 used to do.
It suits company car drivers, commuters and small families who want something lower and sleeker than an SUV without giving up motorway comfort. Road testers consistently praise the ride and the way it settles down at speed, while being less kind about the move to touch controls for functions that used to be buttons.
Your choice on this page is straightforward: one body style, three powertrains (petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid) and five trims from Sport to Vorsprung.

The current A5, on sale in this form since 2024, is a five-seat, four-door executive car measuring 4.84 m long on a 2.90 m wheelbase. It carries a 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
Character-wise it leans towards refinement rather than sharpness. Reviewers repeatedly describe the ride as composed and the motorway manners as excellent, and they rate the plug-in hybrid's petrol-to-electric transitions as some of the smoothest in the class.
The criticism is consistent too: the interior is dominated by screens, with climate and some minor functions moved onto the touchscreen, and a few testers feel materials low down aren't quite to the standard Audi set a decade ago. Worth ten minutes in one before you commit.
The Saloon is the sleeker, slightly lighter choice; the A5 Estate is the one to pick if load space decides it. Both are 4.84 m long, both seat five, and both tow up to 1,900 kg braked on the right version.
The Saloon holds 331 to 445 litres with the rear seats up and 1,175 to 1,299 litres folded. The Estate's five-door body takes 361 to 476 litres seats-up and 1,306 to 1,424 litres folded, with a squarer opening for bulky items. Kerb weights are 1,695 to 2,070 kg for the Saloon against 1,710 to 2,085 kg for the Estate.
If you want to see both together, the full Audi A5 range is on one page, and every A5 sits within our wider Audi leasing line-up.
Because the standard specification is genuinely deep and consistent across the range, which matters on a lease: you're not paying extra to reach a sensible level of kit, and you hand the car back before the technology dates.
Every A5 Saloon has adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, self-steering parking, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition. Inside, all versions get heated front seats, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, three-zone climate control and ambient lighting.
Safety is solid: 5 stars from Euro NCAP, with 87% for adult occupant protection and 88% for child occupant protection. Practicality is respectable rather than cavernous, with five seats, a 12.1 m turning circle and braked towing of 1,500 to 1,900 kg depending on version. There's a tyre repair kit rather than a spare.
Three choices, all automatic: petrol for simplicity, diesel for long motorway miles, plug-in hybrid if you can charge at home or at work. Mileage and charging access decide it more than anything else.
The widest spread: 148 to 362 bhp, 2.0 to 3.0 litres, front- or all-wheel drive, with a 7-speed automatic throughout. WLTP economy is 36.2 to 40.9 mpg and CO2 156 to 176 g/km. Nothing to plug in, and 0-62 mph ranges from 9.8 to 4.5 seconds.
One 2-litre, 201 bhp unit with 400 Nm, automatic, front- or all-wheel drive. WLTP economy of 52.3 to 57.6 mpg and CO2 of 128 to 141 g/km make it the sensible pick if you regularly cover long distances. Braked towing is 1,700 to 1,800 kg.
A 2-litre turbo with a 25.9 kWh battery (20.7 kWh usable), 295 bhp, automatic and all-wheel drive. It charges at up to 11 kW, 0-100% in about 2.5 hours on the best version. Best suited to drivers with a home charger; our electric and hybrid guides cover the day-to-day reality.

Five trims, and because so much is standard everywhere, the differences are mostly wheels, upholstery, lighting and the top-end driver aids.
The foundation, and far from sparse: MMI navigation plus with the 14.5" OLED touchscreen, heated front seats, camera-based traffic sign recognition, park assist plus and adaptive cruise control. It rides on 18-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloys with cloth upholstery, plus LED headlights, automatic high beam and rear cross-traffic alert. A fixed panoramic glass roof and a retractable towbar are options.
Adds Softwrap leatherette with contrast stitching, privacy glass and the ambient lighting package plus over Sport. Wheels go to 19-inch "5 Twin V Spoke" alloys, upholstery becomes leather and artificial leather, and sports suspension is fitted. Heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory and a panoramic roof are all available as options.
Over S line it brings Dinamica microfibre and artificial leather upholstery, and it makes standard what S line leaves optional: heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, electrically adjustable driver's seat and seat memory. Same 19-inch "5 Twin V Spoke" wheels. Largely a darker, more finished look on top of S line's kit.
The plug-in hybrid trim, so it starts at 295 bhp with all-wheel drive. Against Sport it adds 18-inch 5 arm aero black, gloss turned alloy wheels and electrically adjustable, heated, folding exterior mirrors, along with air conditioning. Cloth upholstery inside; panoramic roof and retractable towbar optional.
The fully loaded one. Over Black Edition it adds a fixed panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency, a 360 degree camera with top view, adaptive cruise assist plus with steering intervention, ambient lighting package pro with dynamic interaction light and a head up display, plus matrix LED headlights, lane-keep assist and 20-inch "5 Arm Fold" alloys.
A Tech Pack is offered as an add-on rather than a trim of its own, and factory options vary by version, so check the specification attached to the individual deal. Our guide to choosing your car covers how to weigh spec against term and mileage.
Cross-shopping is normal at this size. The BMW 3 Series covers much the same executive ground, the BMW 2 Series offers a smaller, more style-led take, and the Audi A3 is the size below in the same showroom.
