View dealThe Audi A5 Estate is the load-carrying body of the current A5, Audi's compact executive car, which has been on sale in this form since 2024. Five seats, five doors, 4.84 metres long, and a boot of 361 to 476 litres with the rear seats in place depending on which version you pick.
It suits drivers who cover motorway miles, want a premium badge and a proper tailgate, but don't want an SUV. Company car drivers are well served too, thanks to the plug-in hybrid option.
The choice here is simple enough: one body style, three powertrains (Petrol, Diesel and Plug-in hybrid), and five trims - Sport, S line, Black Edition, Technik and Vorsprung. The rest of this page works through each of them.

The A5 Estate is Audi's compact executive estate, sitting below the larger A6 in the range and rivalling the established German and Swedish load-luggers. It carries five people, tows up to 1,900 kg braked on the strongest versions, and comes with a 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty.
Reviewers consistently praise the same things: a quiet, composed motorway ride, a sharper-steering car than the A4 Avant it replaced, and a cabin dominated by big, crisp screens. The criticism is equally consistent - the boot is smaller than several key rivals, particularly in plug-in hybrid form.
Safety is a strength. Euro NCAP awarded the car five stars, with 87% for adult occupant protection and 88% for child occupant protection.
The Estate is the more practical of the two. It holds 361-476 litres with the rear seats up and 1,306-1,424 litres folded, against 331-445 litres and 1,175-1,299 litres in the A5 Saloon.
Both are 4.84 m long, 1.86 m wide and carry five people, and both tow 1,500-1,900 kg braked, so you give up very little for that extra luggage space. The Estate is the heavier of the two at 1,710-2,085 kg kerb weight, and adds a fifth door for that extra load space.
If you'd rather see every body style side by side, start from the full Audi A5 range.
Because the standard equipment list is unusually complete, which matters more on a lease than on a purchase: you're specifying a car for two, three or four years and you can't add kit later. Every version and trim gets adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, heated front seats, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation and a digital instrument cluster.
Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, self-steering parking, traffic sign recognition and autonomous emergency braking are also standard, as are roof rails and front sports seats. Every version carries a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel, which is worth knowing before you order.
All three powertrains use a 7-speed automatic gearbox, so the real question is fuel, drive and whether you can charge at home.
The broadest choice, from 148 bhp up to 362 bhp, with 2.0 to 3.0-litre engines and four or six cylinders. Front- or all-wheel drive, 35.8-40.9 mpg on the WLTP test, and the biggest boot in the range at 448-476 litres. Best for lower-mileage drivers who don't want to plug in.
One 2-litre, 201 bhp engine with 400 Nm of torque, front- or all-wheel drive, and 51.4-57.6 mpg WLTP. It's the long-distance option: 130-144 g/km CO2, a 448-litre boot and 1,700-1,800 kg braked towing. If you regularly clear 15,000 miles a year, start here.
A 2-litre turbo petrol engine with a 25.9 kWh battery (20.7 kWh usable) and all-wheel drive, producing 295 bhp and 0-62 mph in 5.9 seconds. It charges on AC only, at up to 11 kW - the best version goes 0-100% in 2.5 hours at that rate. It needs regular charging to make sense, and its boot is the smallest at 361 litres. Our electric and hybrid leasing guides cover the charging side in more detail.

Five trims, and because so much kit is standard across the range, the differences are mostly wheels, upholstery, lighting and driver assistance.
The starting point, and no bare-bones car. It brings MMI navigation plus with a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen, heated front seats, camera-based traffic sign recognition, Park assist plus and adaptive cruise control, on 18-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloys with cloth upholstery. LED headlights, rear cross-traffic alert and an auto-dimming mirror are included; a panoramic glass roof and retractable towbar are options.
Adds softwrap leatherette with contrast stitching, privacy glass and the ambient lighting package plus over Sport. Wheels go to 19-inch "5 Twin V Spoke" alloys and the suspension is sportier. Heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory are available as options.
Largely a styling step over S line, with Dinamica microfibre and artificial leather upholstery in place of the S line trim. Practically, it makes standard several things S line leaves optional: heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, electric driver's seat and seat memory. Same 19-inch "5 Twin V Spoke" wheels.
The plug-in hybrid trim, so it's a different starting point rather than a step up: 295 bhp and all-wheel drive from the off. Against Sport it brings 18-inch 5-arm aero black, gloss turned alloy wheels and electrically adjustable, heated, folding exterior mirrors, with cloth upholstery inside.
The fully loaded one. Over Black Edition it adds a fixed panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency, a 360-degree camera with top view, adaptive cruise assist plus with steering intervention, the ambient lighting package pro and a head-up display, on 20-inch "5 Arm Fold" alloys, with matrix LED headlights and lane-keep assist.
A Tech Pack is offered as an add-on to a trim rather than a trim in its own right. Which trims appear as offers changes constantly - the deals below are for the Estate only, and our guide to choosing your car helps with term and mileage.
If you're weighing up the class, the BMW 3 Series and the Volvo V60 cover similar ground, and the rest of the Audi range is worth a look if you want something larger or fully electric.
